Eminem is represented differently within his body language in Hip Hop Connection

and Top of the Pops$ %n Top of the Pops Eminem&s body language is 'uite rela(ed

because the article and the maga"ine is directed towards teenage girls$ Teenage girls

are the prominent buyers of maga"ines in the music industry so the maga"ine is

purposely representing Eminem in a calm rela(ed way so that the parents of the girls

approve the maga"ine and doesn&t mind them buying the maga"ine$ However in Hip

Hop Connection Eminem&s body language is 'uite serious and intimidating helped by

the use of a low angle shot which presents him as powerful$ This representation is

different to the Top of the Pops representation because they have differing

audiences$ The Hip Hop Connection has a target audience who are primarily male

teenagers whereas Top of The pops has a target audience who are predominantly

female teenagers$

)dditionally Eminem&s costume is used to represent him differently in the two

maga"ines$ %n Hip Hop Connection Eminem is wearing a smart white shirt with a red

tie$ This goes against the common conception of Eminem as he is commonly associatedwith wearing trac!suits$ The white shirt and the red tie show Eminem is ready for

business which lin!s in with the serious intimating attitude and props that are used$

%n contrast Eminem is wearing a che'uered shirt in the other maga"ine which shows

represents him to be a friendlier person$ He is represented this way so the target

audience see him in a differently to how he is commonly shown so they are more

li!ely to buy the maga"ine$

*astly props are used for different effects in both maga"ines$ %n the Hip Hop

Connection maga"ine Eminem is wearing a watch and has a gun tuc!ed into histrousers$ The gun shows Eminem is aggressive and violent additionally the gun is

silver which shows his high social status additionally the watch shows he is

successful$ On the other hand in the Top of the Pops maga"ine Eminem is wearing a

bracelet and his tattoos are hidden this shows him in a positive more approachable

way$ They are represented in different ways due to the differing target audiences$
