Most people would think thatsuming cannabis would adverselyct an athlete, especially a formerfessional runner, but Chris Barniclects that theory and states thatnabis actually helped him become ater athlete.
A Massachusetts native, Chriss diagnosed with Crohns diseaseen he was 19 years old, while goingschool in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Itcted him so adversely it he waspitalized after his first marathon.gastrointestinal disorder led him tohis own way of medically controllingsymptoms with cannabis infused
nut butter sandwiches. Being a longance runner, Chris didnt like the idea
he carcinogens taken in when smokingnabis. He says, there are so manyer ways to medicate.
Chris was a three time allerican in track and field, while attendingergraduate school at University ofansas and graduate school at theversity of New Mexico. His specialtys running the 5K and 10K. He then ranfessionally post collegiately, and wasnsored by Asics and New Balance, he
o qualified for the Olympic trials. Hisning took him all over Europe and hen traveled to Kenya to train with thelds best.
Chris and his business partnersky Corbin and Dan Lacava (also
g distance professional runners),to avoid the standard drug testing
cedures for athletes. Chris recallsting his body through extremeess, cleaning out and sweating outremnants of THC in his system from
oking one celebratory joint after hist win. Together they have won 40onal championships as coaches andwhile in school.
While many sport authority
agencies are lowering their testingthreshold for cannabis, Chris believes theyshouldnt even be testing for marijuana. He said, the fact that cannabis is beingscheduled as a street drug with heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, when
there are many medical benefits tocannabis, I believe this is absurd. This iswhat really needs to change. There aremany former NFL players that are comingout saying that cannabis has helped
them with their concussions. Thats aserious problem in the NFL, where youhave suicides and violence related toconcussions, and if cannabis can be astart to change that, then I think theNFL should be trying to use it, and let theirplayers medicate if they choose. Id like
to see more athletes and people comingout of this closet of cannabis. Chris goes on, Its an openness
that needs to be accepted. But I thinkthere needs to be people like myself needto come out and say, Yes, I use cannabis. It is just a flower. And I use it. So what? In April 2014, Chris ran his lastrace. When he got back he found out hehad a stress fracture on his tibia, whichwas his fourth stress fracture. The sportof running had taken him many places, but he didnt want to risk a fifth stressfracture and put his body through thepossibility of permanent damage whichcould cripple him. He wanted to trysomething new with his life, and his otherpassion besides running had always beencannabis.
Instead of going out on aFriday nights to the bars, Chris and his
teammates would have an edible in theevening, using it as a way to replenish theirbodies from running 100 miles per week. When practice time came everyone elsewould show up hung over from the barsand they would be fine.
Chris, Micky and Dan haveturned the nostalgia of their competingdays into a cannabis energy bar, calledZip Organics. Made from all organic
ingredients, infused with gourmetespresso beans and cannabis coconuthash oil. It was designed to be equivalent
to a cup of coffee, giving a perky effect, unlike most edibles that a sedative effect. Each bar contains 25 mg of THC per bar,8 grams of protein, and 250 Calories perbar. Chris says its great for yoga, andlifting weights, running or hiking. The Zipbars are available in two flavors, SweetPotato Date and Pumpkin Cherry. Having
just a couple bites, I feel like Im able to geta little more zip into my work out, which iswhere the name came from.
During his track days he wasin the closet about his cannabis use, toavoid losing his scholarship. But to t hose
that say Oh, youre an athlete, you cantuse cannabis, Chris rebuttals with, No,its an herb. He has always been a supporterof cannabis, and Chris was quick to add
that he had his mothers support, andshe influenced him with making edibleswhen he was in high school. Never lettingcannabis slow him down, Chris feels like ithas always helped rejuvenate his body, inaddition to helping with his lack of hungerbeing an athlete.
On his journey of connectingfitness with cannabis, Chris believes that
the next step of legalization, is dispelling thelabels of stoners and potheads. Peoplefrom all walks of life use cannabis.
They also hope to launch a topicalpain cream line for athletes to helprejuvenate physical injuries.

the drug policy is reformed than some ofthese players can avoid suspension alltogether.
Instead of punishing players formarijuana use, the NFL might be better offfiguring out how pots medicinal benefitscan help players deal with pain, writesDan Graziano in an ESPN NFL article. It does not make logical sense to holdcertain people to separate standards. The state may have legalized medicinalmarijuana and still holding players to abackwards and outdated way of thinking.People sometimes fail to remember thatchange is progress. When things change,i.e. environment, thought process, andeven tolerance levels, people grow as

to have a higher ng/mL maximum. Allone can do is wait and see if the NFLand Player Association can come to anagreement about marijuana. Currently
there is no set deadline for an agreementto come to a conclusion. Right now it

On October 20, 2014 the City of Brotherly Lovel also take the Crown as the largest city in the Countrydecriminalize marijuana. Councilman James Kelleys
criminalization law passed the city council with a 13-3te, which was enough votes to override a potentialayoral veto. However Mayor Michael Nutter signede bill September 8th, with the support of Philly cops, mmunity organizations, African Americans, and councilembers.
The bill was introduced in May 2014 by councilmanm Kenney in Philadelphia. Philadelphias laws originallyate that a $200 fine and a three hour drug abuseurse were the appropriate consequences for non-violentarijuana offenders as long as the possession amount didt exceed that of one ounce.
The newly passed bill will allow people with no morean thirty grams (just under an ounce) to walk away with$25 fine. This is comparable to that of a parking ticketyour record. As for public consumption the fine is $100complete 9 hours of community service.
Mayor Michael Nutter received an enormousmount of pressure to sign the bill from the youth in
iladelphia, the majority of which coming from the Africanmerican community.
This is a huge stepping stone for Philadelph ia andAmericans who are high on the love Philly has show
wards decriminalizing marijuana. On October 20th,
014, Not only is this making history for all Americans,t it becomes a trial run example for other large cities.Given that this bill affects roughly a 1.6 million
pulation Mayor Nutter requires a three month trialriod before this bill truly takes effect. One must alsoep in mind that this bill is not in compliant with violentarijuana crimes.
Upon further research into this bill it also hasaffect on previously convicted and/or otherwise
carcerated individuals for similar marijuana crimes.nnually the tax payers spend approximately $350 millionforcing marijuana laws. It seems this may be a costective way for large cities to remain solvent in theseugh financial times.

Marijuana is very different than it was 40 yearsago. Its much higher in THC and lower in Cannabidol, so alittle goes a very long way, said Professor Rebecca Craft, who has spent the last several years compiling her findings
to publish. Professor Craft has been able to conduct herresearch through a grant from the National Institute onDrug Abuse and said findings were in fact published in the
journal of Drug and Alcohol Dependence.Craft and her research team at Washington
State University currently have several research projectsunderway. All of which involve the differences in behaviorunder psychoactive drugs. Professor Craft states thatright now her primary research goal is to determinehow the endocrinological and neurobiological differencesbetween male and females may explain their differentialsensitivity to psychoactive drugs.
Intracranial Stimulation -- to examine reinforcingeffects of drugs Drug Discrimination -- to examine interoceptive(subjective) effects of drugs Swim Test; Sucrose Preference; Novel ObjectConditioning -- to examine anti-depressant effects of drugs Elevated Plus-Maze; Predator Odor Test -- to examineanti-anxiety effects of drugs Evoked Pain Tests (e.g., Tail Withdrawal, Paw Pressure,
von Frey, Hargreaves) -- to examine analgesia againstacute & chronic pain Spontaneous Pain Tests (var. pain-suppressedbehaviors such as burrowing, feeding) -- to examineanalgesia against chronic pain Spontaneous Locomotor Activity, Catalepsy Tests --o examine motor-activating and suppressing effects ofdrugs Behavioral Observation -- to assess complex behavioralphenomena such as opioid withdrawal
Craft expresses several unknowns going into thisexperiment. For starters, the fact that most, if not all, other research conducted on effects of marijuana haveonly been done on men. Through studies at numerouslaboratories indicate that males and females are affecteddifferently by opioids and cannabinoids. This made mewonder as to why. Why are men the necessary testsubjects for effects of marijuana? The reason as to whymen are the ideal test subjects is because men have amore stable hormonal profile. Women have a hormonalprofile that fluctuates up and down throughout eachmonth.
There are a few reasons why men and waffected by marijuana differently. Most common
that men and women metabolize marijuana diffeat different rates. Other speculations are that woapproach smoking marijuana differently than menalso has an effect on the body. For insistence womfirst educate themselves on medical marijuana andfindings they proceed with a sense of caution. Al

the body designed to deal with a significant amountcontinue to operate. Professor Rebecca Craft was unavailable foThrough her website at Washington State Universsee, in greater detail, her findings and what reseacurrently conducting. Craft states that women are sensitive to THC than males. In addition, women aa tolerance level quicker than males do. Femalexperience a spike in sensitivity during their ovulat
Professor Craft also looked into the Munchie Efis the need to eat/snack after having smoked orconsumed medical marijuana. Men are far more

the withdrawal symptoms of MMJ (Medicinal Marhow it affects the sexes differently. The typical symptoms include, but are not limited to irritadeprivation, and loss of appetite. Taboo and unusual, Foria has brought to market acannabis infused female lubricant for womens health andpleasure needs. Made from coconut oil, THC and CBD oils,If ingested orally, Foria will produce the same effects similar
to consuming an edible. The expected effect is heightened sensation leading
up to and during orgasm, deep body euphoria and a feelingof deep relaxation.
The recommended dosage is 4-8 sprays vaginally.Foria was designed to be applied to the entire vulva. Theyalso recommend waiting approximately 30 minutes beforeengaging in intimate acts.
Menopausal women have been some of theirstrongest advocates, reporting that for many it helps withdryness, loss of sensation as well as access to orgasm. We had the females on the Edibles List teampersonally tested the samples via vaginal intercourse. What we found was that it worked very well as a lubricantin general, and it definitely heightened sensation during andafter orgasming.
All in all we think its an extremely unique and f orwardthinking product.

Weve seen their cool ads that insinuate their ediblel punch you in the face (see next page). We are here tol you that Kushy Punch definitely packs a hit.
Im sure youve all been wondering, what exactly isKushy Punch?
Kushy Punch is only 30 calories. Its fruit chewat contains 70 mg of THC (also available in 200mg THC,d 60mg CBD). It comes strained out in hybrid, indicad sativa, which we absolutely love. Kushy Punch is made
om an all organic cannabis infusion, unlike most otheribles out there using butane or C02. The texture andnsistency is somewhere between a a gummy and a hardndy. When you take the edible out of the box the Kushynch is wrapped in wax paper that recommends cutting
e chew into 4 pieces for safe dosing. We recommend consuming Kushy Punch with
treme caution, even if you have a high tolerance to edibles.ey use a concentrated cannabis tincture for their infusion,d while it may seem like a small medible, if you consumee entire chew, it will surely hit you all at once later.
We found that that this particular edible seems toect the user about an hour or so after having consumed it,d the effects are long lasting up to 8 hours. Kushy Punchgreat for insomnia, pain, daytime pain management (whennsumed in small doses), nausea, and mood stabilization.u can also melt a piece of the candy into a drink or tea.
If you do happen to consume too much of any edible, ting to slow your metabolism, and sleeping it off are thest ways to combat feeling too high. But if theres anywayu can get a hold of a CBD tincture, a CBD strip, CBD budwers, or a CBD edible, CBD is the anecdote for a THCerdose.
