PassionAudio

forCustomer Service is never taken lightly. In plain English, a product is as good as the service & support behind it. We dedicate specialized staff to serve our customers' needs, from taking an order, to tracing a shipment, all the way to servicing a product - in rare occasions.

Audio Excellence

Dedication Everywhere

Focus On Details

Value, performance, and advanced features are the criteria upon which products are judged, that's where Earthquake products excel, leaving other brands behind. Our engineers strive to provide consumers with the highest-quality products at very affordable prices.

“No.va, n. - a star that suddenly becomes thousands of times brighter” perfectly describes the evolutionary Nova line of subwoofers and amplifiers. Cinénova amplifiers and Supernova subwoofers are constantly changing and improving the industry and exceeding the requirements of advanced home-theater systems.

In summarizing our company story, one word pops up: dedication. However, we do not stop with dedication, we are also known for value, performance, advanced technology, and the highest quality. Those words best describe the Nova amplifiers, subwoofers, and a variety of other Earthquake audio products.

As a high-end audio manufacturing company, we focus our attention on details. Our staff of audiophiles, electronic engineers, and industrial designers come together to observe, study, dissect, and provide solutions to audio problems tha t o ther manufac turers have chosen to ignore.

Many factors contribute to the superiority of an Earthquake product. Whether it is an amplifier, a subwoofer, a surround speaker, or even the smallest in-wall system, they all undergo extensive tests before they hit the shipping lane.

Research and Development (R&D) teams of audio and electronic engineers spend endless hours designing the most advanced audio products. Advanced manufacturing processes in our own manufacturing facilities gives us 100% control to maintain the highest product quality.

Quality assurance is not taken lightly, each individual Earthquake product is scrutinized to the max and tested for days to ensure best performance. For example, every Cinénova amplifier is subjected to 24 hours burn test before it gets the seal of approval, same applies for Supernova subwoofer all the way down to the smallest ceiling mount driver.

Awards are given based on achievements, not on attempts: The prestigious Consumer Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (CEMA) has bestowed several Design And Engineering Excellence awards on the Nova products. These awards were not accidental; they were the natural results of years of accumulated research and development in mobile audio and a massive knowledge of audio and electronics that was applied to home-audio products. Suffice to say that Hohmann International and its subsidiaries have accumulated over 20 awards in Design And Engineering Excellence.

It is very simple: Great Product = Great Reviews. For years, Earthquake products have enjoyed (and still are enjoying) rave reviews from the industry’s leading publications. Home Theater Magazine, Widescreen Review, Stereophile's Guide To Home Theater, Digital Home Entertainment, and many other notable magazines had nothing but praises after testing the Earthquake products.

Balanced XLR InputsNo one wants noise. The balanced and shielded twisted-pair lines with pro-style XLR inputs that Earthquake uses are the best way to connect components noiselessly. These pro-audio connections reject common-mode noise so the system is hum free.

Built-in Power-Line ConditionerA power-line conditioner is built into every Cinénova Grande amplifier; no other company in the audio industry has done this. Earthquake's exclusive power conditioning eliminates the need to purchase expensive external components and accessories.

EZXS (Easy Access) Amplification BlocksThe EZXS power blocks in the five- and seven-channel Cinénova Grande amplifiers are totally independent. Each 15-ampere block has its own preamplification stage and power-supply circuitry. And each block can be easily and individually removed for service.

Earthquake’s Cinénova Grande Amplifiers Meet Your NeedsAll the features of Earthquake's Cinénova Grande power amplifiers are designed to meet your needs for accurate sound quality, effortless power, and unexcelled value. Every dollar buys performance.

Typical amplifiers have trouble reproducing modern digital soundtracks with extreme dynamic range (sounds that range from whispers to explosions). Amps that compress sound lose impact as well as lose the details in the middle and upper frequencies.

Earthquake Cinénova Grande amplifiers easily exceed the technical performance standards set by THX, DTS, and Dolby. Earthquake's innovations are just one of the steps in our design process that culminates in the world's most powerful amplifiers.

Not only did Earthquake Sound design and engineer the Cinénova Grande amplifiers to exceed all industry standards, these amplifiers are also designed and engineered to exceed all expectations in sound quality, performance, and value.

The Choice of ProfessionalsThe PA-600 is a durable high-quality professional amplifier. It is designed to mount into a standard 19-inch rack, requiring only two rack spaces (3.5 inches, vertically). Two automatic variable-speed internal cooling fans use the sides, rear, and front of the amplifier not the top and bottom for air intake and exhaust, allowing you to stack multiple amplifiers, closer together in a rack-mount situation.

The PA-600 produces up to 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms (stereo mode) and 380 watts into 8 ohms (bridged mono mode).

Earthquake has included pro-audio features in the PA-600 such as ¼-inch and XLR input jacks for electronically balanced low or medium impedance operations. In addition, limiting circuitry with LED indicators constantly monitors the output level of each channel; which provides protection from clipping, thus preventing the generation of speaker-damaging square waves. A built-in protection circuit protects the amplifier from overloads, short circuits, and overheating for those who love their music consistently loud for several hours at a time.

Reference Loud Speakers

Earthquake Sound presents its next creation from the TITAN series, the Telesto towers.

Their sleek, slim exteriors are matched only by their performance. The main Telesto cabinets are built from multi-laminations of steam bent, high density fiber board. These laminations offer extreme rigidity as well as lower cabinet vibrations. These single pieces of egg shaped walls offer minimum wall reflections and allow the cabinets to be transparent, dynamic, and neutral.

To maximize floor coupling in low frequencies, the Telestos are equipped with XLT EQ8 extra long excursion subwoofers that create tight, fast, and accurate low frequency extension. The EQ8’s are mounted 90º off-axis from the front of the speakers. This allows for a slim profile while delivering massive bass response. With a name like Earthquake, audiophiles tend to expect more, and the Telesto delivers.

The mid-band of the Telestos are equipped with an array of type loaded two 4” carbon fiber drivers. In an array type design, SPL losses due to the distance between the speakers and the listeners are 4 times lower than conventional design. The dual carbon fiber drivers are fast, neutral, and voice tuned.

The Telestos are crowned with two conically shaped epoxy cabinets that harbor the T1 tweeter and the M2 midrange. The T1 and M2 are placed at about 3 feet elevation from the base. This allows the speaker to produce linear response that is not obstructed by furniture and that is more direct to a sitting listener.

The M2 is a 1.25” super midrange that delivers upper mids, and the T1 is a 1” silk dome with a Neo motor structure.

The design of the T1 tweeter module on top of the cabinet in a separate enclosure achieves perfect positioning for wider dispersion and better image stability. The T1 is tuned to allow correct phase integration with M2, the midrange driver. The enclosure designs are optimized to deliver the ultimate in sound quality. Each Telesto is voice tuned to deliver a transparent performance.

As AV front speakers or a conventional stereo system, the Telestos will deliver a benchmark in performance and style that is unprecedented.

Earthquake Sound is proud to present the new Tigris tower speakers, the big brothers of the Telesto towers. Each tower features one 1” silk dome NEO tweeter, one 2” ball loaded silk dome tweeter, dual 8” Kevlar long excursion midbass woofers, all enclosed in an egg-shaped speaker enclosure to enable the most transparent sound reproduction with minimal reflections. Though they share the Telestos’ sleek style, they are more powerful and bigger in size.

Available in black piano lacquer finish, the Tigris brings elegance to your home theater system without compromising the quality of sound performance.

The new Supernova MKVI includes an all-new recessed amplifier with built-in room correction. Many companies claim that they have room-correction circuitry built into their amplifiers, but they only use level adjustment by volume. Most subwoofers with built-in amplifiers use a simple equalization method that does not correct the rooms' phase-related time problems.

Earthquake’s new Supernova MKVI subwoofers have true room correction that takes reflections and refractions into consideration. These state-of-the-art amplifiers fix both arrival-time and equalization problems, while others try to equalize rooms by adjusting only the volume. The new 99% efficient Supernova subs with IQ amplifiers address the actual phase problems along with the room-equalization problems.

Thunderous Bass from a Little Black BoxEarthquake's Sub-80 is simply one of the best small subwoofers available. This compact high-power subwoofer is perfect for homes where people can't have 10-inch, 12-inch, or 15-inch subwoofers (such as apartments, condominiums, or town homes).

The Sub-80 has the potential to fill very large rooms with musical bass and thundering sound effects. If you don't care about being evicted, you can always get a larger subwoofer, but the Sub-80 delivers tons of pure powerful bass. Other subs this size can't utilize their amplifier power correctly, and those subs produce ugly and distorted bass.

The versatile set-up options of the Sub-80 give it broad compatibility with other speakers. It is available in black or silver finish.

Amazing Specifications of Earthquake's Sub-80 SubwooferEarthquake's Sub-80 takes speaker-level inputs of up to 10 volts, RCA levels (low) input of 0.5 to 2.3 volts. It detects audio signals and turns on automatically. Its 180-degree polarity-inverting switch lets it blend into any system in any location.

Huge Bass and Great Looks in a Tiny MiniMe CubeDesigned to deliver phenomenal bass from a tiny cube and look fantastic while doing so, Earthquake’s MiniMe can pump out just the right amount of bass for any home. No job is too big or small for this little rascal. The new MiniMe P8 and FF8 can turn a puny, weak, and anemic system into the powerful, fit, and well-balanced system that you need. MiniMe P8 employs Earthquake's patented SLAPS passive-radiator technology: SLAPS allows this deceiving mini sub to dish out some 27 Hz of bone-chilling bass just like its 11-Hz big brother, the Supernova MKV-15.

Not only does this unusually powerful subwoofer (with only an 8-inch speaker) do the job, it also looks beautiful while doing it. MiniMe subwoofers are handcrafted with an exquisite multi-layered high-gloss piano-black lacquer applied by professionals who take their pride in their work down to the deepest pearl essence. No other small sub on the planet can compete with this undeniably potent bass machine from Earthquake Sound.

Front Firing, Front Ported, and Ready to Go LowThe FF12 employs a deep-bumped back-motor structure that allows extended excursion with increased bass response. The patented TCT© (Turbine Cooled Transducer) technology increases efficiency and eliminates distortion. A 24-dB/octave low-pass filter delivers an accurate crossover point that prevents it from being easily localized, increasing placement flexibility. Also provided are variable crossovers, phase controls, rear-panel line inputs, and speaker-level inputs.

Equally exciting is the new look it represents for Earthquake subs: a clean, contemporary style that is more consistent with the look and feel of the company's other products and visually more compatible with modern interiors. The new enclosure has a smaller footprint, but it is slightly higher to allow the extra performance of a larger enclosure.

The front of the FF12 allows the user to access the volume-control knob without disturbing the phase and crossover settings. These subsidiary controls are on the back to minimize accidental tampering with the settings. The FF12 is finished in black-ash veneer.

Couch Potato: CP8 Uses Unused SpaceThe CP-8 is a self-powered subwoofer that delivers massive fast bass into your seating position. By placing the subwoofer close to you, the bass is faster, more powerful, and carries massive sub harmonic vibrations with it.

With an integral high-power 300 Watt MAX amplifier, the CP-8 subwoofer provides an RCA input and a high level input with a crossed high level output. CP-8’s high output level is designed to match typical satellite speaker systems to enhance the overall sound quality and performance of your system.

The slim enclosure design allows you to place the CP-8 under the sofa, behind it or under the bed. Now you can have massive bass while using unused space.

The Q10B is an awe-inspiring subharmonics unit designed for special-effects enhancement. You can now add super-sensitive low-frequency effects without using costly hydraulics or a bulky and expensive subwoofer.

You can control sound- pressure levels throughout your home, car, attraction or venue by effectively isolating the low end to your seats and flooring. The Q10B virtually eliminates low-end resonating into adjoining areas.

Designed for superior music quality, the Q10B answers the need for both accurate low-frequency response and maximum tactile effect. Music has never been more powerful and affecting.

Insane Power to Shake You to Your SensesOne Q10B bass shaker can easily replace three, four, or even five typical shakers. Q10B can move two or three theater seats or even a sizeable platform.

Q10B’s are maintenance free and almost indestructible. With only one moving part, and a cast-aluminum heat-sink for excellent heat dissipation and protection from damage, the Q10B is the only shaker you'll ever need.

Unparalleled Tactile Performance in Your Home, Car, or ElsewhereEarthquake's Thor Is Designed for the Finest AV and Audio SystemsThis in-wall subwoofer establishes a new industry standard for in-wall speaker systems. Thor offers a no-compromise built-in solution for the finest home-theater and music systems. You won't believe your ears; the aural performance rivals the best free-standing systems.

Thor: The In-Wall Subwoofer that Goes Down to 20 HzThor is easy to install in homes under construction and existing homes: once the wiring is done, the Thor sub is screwed into the wall from the front. The Thor in-wall system is designed with the patented SWS (Shallow Woofer System) subwoofer driver and SLAPS (Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System) technologies that have made this revolution in home theater possible. Earthquake engineers meticulously designed Thor to produce zero resonance, blend well with any décor, and deliver unheard-of bass from a shallow place.

Reviews

“The Tethys and Rhea give you exactly what you want from high-end loudspeakers: uncolored, transparent sound.”

“These loudspeakers can really crank out some SPLs without any distortion.”

“The detail and clarity they impart on a recording is impeccable.”

“The Titan loud speakers really excel in movie playback, as they go incredibly deep, get incredibly loud, and are incredibly detailed across the frequency spectrum.”

“With their intense power at such low frequencies, the recording can be played back exactly as intended.”

“Let's just say Earthquake has a real winner.”

“...Tethys and Rhea for multichannel music and movies was a delight.”

Widescreen Review Danny Richelieu, , Issue #115

“That's right. You could vibrate the entire floor of your home theater with this unit.”

“Well, I have to say that I am used to trying out shaker, but this one is something else.”

“Be prepared to actually be frightened by the experience. And that is a movie’s intention. To produce emotional response.”

“...it is the most powerful one I have ever experienced. And the amplifier is the most flexible.”

“...it is an accessory worth having. In fact, never to be without again.”

“Sure enough, I almost flew out of my chair.”

“...the Quake is here, and boy does it shake.”

Secrets of Home Theater & High Fidelity, Dr. John E. Johnson Jr., December 2006

“The MiniMe is only slightly bigger than a 10-inch square. It weighs 10 pounds.”

“It's capable of reaching sonic peaks of 108 decibels - somewhere between a jackhammer, a chain saw and midfield at the Super Bowl. This little lug can rumble.”

“The doors were still rattling down into the low 20s. That’s superb output from a subwoofer this small.”

“Hooking up the MiniMe took maybe 30 seconds.”

“...it sounded as loud as a lot of its much bigger rivals.”

“For home theater in a small room, fantastic. For music, very good”

“This is a superb subwoofer in an incredibly small package.”www.Courant.com, Kevin Hunt, January 2007

courant com.The roughest, toughest, low downest speaker in the world

Home Theater Magazine, Chris Lewis, September 2005

“Power that will surely register on your Richter scale.”

“Off-the-chart dynamics, raw power, and a free-flowing sense of ease and composure.”

“Earthquake has gone to considerable lengths to prove that a potent combination of speed, grace and power can be harnessed on a large, multichannel chassis.”

“It was hardly surprising that the Cinénova kicked away from the gate with a truly impressive display of raw power.”

“The Cinénova Grande met these challenges with a massive, wide-open sound stage, and it refused to constrict even the smallest of nuances anywhere in the presentation.”

“I know where every one is supposed to be and, thus, new right away that amplifier was reproducing the stage immaculately.”

“SS got all shook up over the Earthquake SuperNova MKIV-15 subwoofer. Scoring high in all the critical requirements for a subwoofer (loud, deep, clean, fast), it produced bass down to below 20Hz with panache and style. Whether the program material was music or film, the SuperNova performed with aplomb, improving on the low bass in SS’s room even over his resident L/R front speakers, Dunlay SC-VIs, each of which has two 15-inch driver in a box large enough to have required piano mover when he bough a new home just up the street from his old one. Of course, a good powered subwoofer has the advantage of position flexibility, and its dedicated amp can be tailored to provide the best system performance. In this case, that performance was so good that SS concluded; ‘There might be better subwoofers on the planet, but I haven’t heard them.’ ”

Earthquake Supernova MKIV-15:

Sterophile Guide to Home Theater, Thomas Norton, Mar/April 2003

“Want to move your world? Get an Earthquake Supernova Millennium 15.”

“Supernova is the most powerful home theater subwoofer I've ever heard...”

“It beats the other vented designs for fidelity an delivers higher output than any other compact home theater subwoofer I've reviewed.” “Supernova plays at incredibly high levels ...down to 18Hz and below.”

“Deep high impact bass for sound effects was simply outstanding.”

“You won't find a subwoofer with more slam than this one.”

“It is the most powerful LFE subwoofer I've heard period.”

“...they wanted to produce a subwoofer with fewer sonic compromises-one that actually sounded better, not simply one that played louder.”

Home Theater Magazine, Kevin Hunt, December 2001

“Just when you think you know a scene after seeing it 500 times...This subwoofer took my home theater to new depths.”

“The MKIV-12P is a big-lipped powerhouse of a subwoofer that pretends to be nothing other than that.”

“I knew the Supernova was a different animal right away.”

“Earthquake subs remain among the loudest and dollar-per-decibel, among top performers.”

“...(sorry, since most subs don’t go that low, I couldn’t find a test CD that even bothered to reach below 20Hz).”

“Meaty, beaty, little and bouncy”

“...how does the Supernova perform? In a word: outstandingly.”

Stereophile guide to Home Theater, February 1999

“The Supernova MKII is compact and heavy. Only 15 by 15 by 17 inches, it'll fit into even the smallest listening room, … Despite its diminutive physical stature, the Supernova can put out enough bass energy to fill even a large room with sonic rumblings.”

“I've never had a sub that integrates so well with the rest of my system. Used correctly, the Supernova can blend beautifully, remaining soniclly invisible until it's really needed. It's impressive to have dinosaur steps whomp you in the chest and set your bi-fold closet doors quivering with each stride, …”

“The Supernova's dynamic agility is especially impressive on both movie soundtracks and music. On both movie soundtracks and music, there is never any sense of dynamic limitation or strain. No matter how loud the pyrotechnics… or how complex the bass lines… the Supernova is up to the challenge of producing clean, accurate low bass.”

Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, Steven Stone, September 2002

“Fortunately for aficionados of the subterranean, there exist companies like Earthquake Sound, which since 1986 has dedicated itself to the art of reproducing low frequencies.”

“Because of the SLAPS design, the Supernova’s phase response and time alignment match those of a sealed cabinet, but with the greater dynamic ability and smaller size a ported design.”

“This heavy duty driver looks as if it could be used to launch mortar shells.”

“The Earthquake MKIV-15 did 15Hz with panache and style.”

“There might be better subwoofer on the planet, but I haven't heard them.”

“I whole heartily recommend the Supernova for any system requiring the ultimate sonic boon.

Boom... Thud... Crash... “the component that other manufacturers fear, and men lust after.”

Home Theater Magazine, Clint Walker, June 2000

“I'm just speechless, and the Cinénova Grande amplifier is the reason why.”

“I had seen crates like this during my stint in the military-they usually contained Patriot missile warheads."”

“It’s built to last.”

“Once I got the Cinénova Grande on the measuring bench, I was even more astounded-it measured exactly as Earthquake had specified.”

“The harder I pushed the amp, the less distortion I got!”

“There are several very subtle details that only the best amps, preamps, and speaker can uncover. The Cinénova Grande unveiled them all.”

Home Theater Buyers Guide, Spring 1998.

“…with an Xmax of 18.7mm, this woofer has three to four times the average subwoofer's excursion. There are too many positives to list about the actual transducer itself, … I'll just say it's built very well.”

“…the sub integrated into my system quite well. I was delightfully surprised at the sonic presence and transparency of the Supernova, as it delivered tight, accurate bass even at very low volume levels.”

“The experience was like watching this movie for the first time. I found myself gripping the couch nervously during the more 'explosive' scenes.”

“This component, in its entirety, is well thought out, and built even better. To put it plainly, the Earthquake Supernova MKII is quite simply the most amazing subwoofer I've ever tested.”

“...the most amazing subwoofer I’ve ever tested.”

“This unit is aimed at producing maximum SPL from a small but not diminutive enclosure in the 30-50Hz range. The Supernova…delivered 113dB at 40Hz, 113dB at 35Hz, and 113dB at 30Hz. This is the new record for high output level for all subwoofers reviewed so far.”

“...it was difficult to drive to audible distress. It produced a strong, clear output of 106dB at 25Hz and could reach 98dB at 20Hz and below…. The output of 113dB at 35Hz is incredibly high, and the highest level attained by any subwoofer in the review.”

“Caution: the Supernova can play so loud that if you hear distress in use you need to turn your system down or you will soon irrevocably damage your hearing and then everything will become inaudible.”

“The Earthquake Supernova is the new champ for high SPL...”

“For the ultimate in gut-wrenching home theater bass...”

Widescreen Review, V1,#1, issue27.

Digital Home Entertainment, Spring 1998

“The Earthquake Supernova subwoofer delivers an impressive amount of features aimed at fulfilling the promise of ground-shaking bass suggested by its name.”

“The Supernova did indeed have the ability to shake the walls of our listening room, as well as send currents of bass throbbing through our bones.”

“We certainly felt its effects more than with any other sub we tested. On movies, the Supernnova proved to be the one to beat in terms of sheer output, besting even the Sunfire in this regard.”

“Also, when it came to rendering vehicle crashes or gunshots, the Supernova injected fear into our nervous systems more credibly than the other subwoofers.”

“Supernova proved to be the one to beat in terms of sheer output...”
