Make and Take Arts & Craft Project Fall Welcome Wreath
In this class you will be making a decorative fall wreath that
will make a great addition to your fall décor. These wreaths
are perfect in entry ways of your home, but will work great
anywhere and as gifts to others. During this class you will
work alongside others to create a unique fall wreath that you
will take home with you at the conclusion of the class. This is
a one session class.
Price: $5.00/class + $10/ material fee pay to instructor night of

Introduction to Knitting: Make a Scarf & More
Coming to you by popular request is an introduction to
knitting class. The instructor will teach you how to knit using
techniques that will build a lifelong skill of knitting. We will
begin by knitting a scarf and move to other items if students
would like to do more. Come with a skein of yarn and two
knitting needles, any size will do. The instructor will have
extra materials also if you aren’t sure on the first night what to
bring. This is a three session class.

Join this class to paint the perfect sign for your home or to give away as a gift to celebrate your family love. The signs will be created on wood and individualized to your unique style and family.

Farmhouse Stand
Do you enjoy the look of antiques in a farmhouse setting? Join
this class to create a farmhouse stand that you can decorate
for all four seasons, use to host parties, and be the perfect
addition to you home décor.

Card Making 101: Holiday Cards
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a hand stamped
card? This is the class for you! The instructor will present you
with some basic skills on how to make your very own stamped
card. You will use the basic tools to complete five holiday
cards as well as how to use a paper cutter, stamp pads, corner
rounding, embossing tool and more. Come with your creative
mind, double stick tape, and scissors. This is a two session
class.

Evergreen Porch Pots 2.0
Most popular class last year! Join this class to make beautiful
winter porch pots that will adorn your porches and patios all
winter long. In this class you will use your creativity under the
instruction of a professional art teacher and artist who will
bring materials for you and lead you step by step through the
process. This is definitely a class for anyone in Wisconsin with
porch or patio space to decorate. This is a one session class.
Price: $5.00/class + $10.00 material fee pay to the instructor

String Art Wall Hanging
Take the time to create a unique last name sign for your entry
way, an image of a favorite sports team, or something from
nature that you love. In this class you will use colorful strings
to wrap nails to make an individual design you can give as a
gift or keep for yourself. Once registered for the class you will
work with the instructor to send her your design prior to class
so she can prepare the boards ahead of time. Time in class
will be spent selecting string color and wrapping the designs
on the boards. See the picture above for a possible design or
find your own online and the instructor will help create it.
This class is a two session class.

Make Your Own Farmhouse Windmill
Looking for the perfect item to decorate your home, outdoor
area, or shop? Take this class to design and make your own
farmhouse windmill. The instructor will walk you through the
steps to making this great piece to add to any décor.

Barn Quilt
You have seen these colorful and creative geometric
decorations around the community. Now, this is your chance
to make your very own two feet by two feet unique barn quilt
to take home with you. In this class you will have a chance to
design and paint your own barn quilt that will be just as
individual as you are. Once registered for the class you will
work with the instructor to send her your design prior to class
so she can prepare the boards ahead of time. Time in class
will be spent selecting paint colors, painting the boards, and
sealing the boards. This class is a two session class.
Cost: $15.00/class +$40/materials fee (2 classes)

Cooking & Baking
Uff Da! Lefse Making from Scratch
When a non-Norwegian uses a piece of lefse for a
napkin…….Uff Da! You will experience lefse making from
start to finish. You will begin by ricing hot potatoes and leave
with lefse in your hand that you and your partner rolled,
cooked, and can take home to enjoy. Each person should
come with a set of strong arms, comfortable shoes, medium
weight clothing and a full-front apron. The flour will be
flyin’!
The instructor will supply all of the ingredients plus the
equipment to be used for the day includes: lefse griddle,
rolling pins, lefse turning sticks, cooling racks, towels, pastry
board and cloth, flour, potatoes, sugar, salt, butter and
cream. Two sessions offered!

Freezer Meal Workshop –Just Bring Yourself & Walk Away
with 5 Meals!
Busy families this is the class for you. During this class you
will make 5 healthy freezer meals that your family will
love. The meals are family sized meals. Recipes include beef
& broccoli stir-fry, easy sweet tenderloin with sweet balsamic
sauce, fajitas, cheesy chicken tortilla soup & a baked veggie
rotini. The instructor will make a folder up for each person
with all recipes plus the two we are not making, directions,
grocery lists and serving suggestions for sides to go with it. Price: $10.00/ class + $70.00 to instructor the night of class

Instant Pot Basics-Make a Cheesecake!
This new and popular kitchen appliance can really be a
timesaver and bring new recipes into your kitchen, if you
know how to use. If you have been curious how to use your
instant pot or would like to learn more about what they can
do before purchasing one this is the class for you. In this class
you will learn the different pieces, the do’s and don’ts, and
receive a take home packet full of user tips and several go to
recipes. During this class you will also have the opportunity to
make a cheesecake before leaving class. Price: $5.00/ class + $5/materials fee Date: Wednesday November 20, 2019

Pie Making Night-Just in Time for Thanksgiving
How would you like to make a simple and fast approach to
the best homemade crust for one to two crust pies? We have
a wonderful recipe from Grandma “Tootie” that we will share
in the class. Along with learning to make the best crust, we
are also planning to prepare a lemon Meringue pie and a
pumpkin pie. It is NO secret that Betty Crocker has one of the
best recipes for these two pies. We will go over some tricks
and tips that may help with making these two types of pies
easy and fun! There is a good chance that these pies may not
make it to your Thanksgiving table to eat! Bring your own pie
tins and aprons (aprons are optional).

Health and Wellness Fitness Boot Camp Similar to Dance Fitness last session, this class is designed to
get different muscles moving, increase your metabolism, and
have lasting effects on your overall energy level. This class will
burn 500-1000 calories in a one-hour session. But don’t be
afraid if you are just getting started, this class can work for any
fitness level. Any of the moves can be modified to meet you
at your current fitness level.

Fall into Winter Make and Take Fall into Winter Make and Take with Natural Solutions and Essential Oils –This class will focus on the most popular essential oils that help with building your immunity and it couldn’t come at a better time as we enter the season of sniffles, throat, and chest issues. We will go over the top essential oils/natural solutions that are used for boosting your body systems and how they can be used safely. We will also go over how you can use natural solutions for stress, sleep, muscle discomfort, weight management, and skin issues. In this class, we will make a batch of bath bombs and a couple make and take roller blends. If participants decide they would like to take what they make, it will cost $5.00 for a bath bomb batch and $5.00 per roller bottle blend. This can be paid to the instructor the night of the class. Pilates Join this low-impact exercise class to build more flexibility,
reduce stress, strengthen your muscles and build confidence.
But don’t be afraid if you are just getting started, this class can
work for any fitness level. Any of the moves can be modified
to meet you at your current fitness level. You will need to
bring a mat or towel to class, wear comfortable clothes, and
have a water bottle for hydration.

Holiday Make and Take with Essential Oils How about a chance to pamper yourself or someone close to you? Looking for DIY Christmas gifts? Here is your chance to learn about the natural solutions of essential oils and how they can help with digestive support, respiratory relief, sleep support, stress and anxiousness, muscle discomfort, immunity, skin issues, and ways to increase energy. We will share the top oils and how they can benefit people in physical and emotional health and how to use them safely and wisely. This class can be for the never heard of essential oils to the veteran oiler. We welcome all levels of understanding and can be a great oil share shop gathering. Participants will have the option to make roller blends for various benefits for $5 a roller and can be paid to the instructor the night of the class. How to Use Your Smartphone iOS & Android Smartphones are continually changing, updating, and becoming more complicated. In this class you will learn several basic functions of your phone, how to access your settings, and have an opportunity to ask questions about your phone. You will have two classes back to back as recommended by adult learners in the last session. This will allow you to learn a few smartphone skills, go home to practice, and return the following week with any questions. It’s Harvest Time (Freezing and Canning) Now that the gardening time is coming to a close, how about a
chance to learn what to do with your garden harvest? This
class will cover how to take pie pumpkins and cook them
down so you can freeze your pumpkin into pumpkin pie
servings. We are also going to take those tomatoes and get
them canned to make your favorite salsa, hot dishes, chili, or
spaghetti. Each Participant will take home with them enough
pumpkin to make one pie (Recipe will go with) and at least a
quart jar of tomatoes

Getting Started with Genealogy Is it really as easy as you on TV? See a shaking leaf and you have your family history? Are those family stories true? Don’t believe everything you read! We will cover how to start, how not to make beginner mistakes, where to find information, resources and additional education options. The first night will be an introduction and you will leave with a folder of forms and resources, the second night will be hands on researching – bring a flash drive to download files onto and a couple of names of ancestors you want to learn more about. This class will introduce you to an addicting hobby that you can pursue throughout the winter. Spot Light Class: Grant Writing for Non-Profit Organizations with Ashley from United Way of Pepin/Dunn County
Grant Writing for Non-Profit Organizations As you know finding funding for the non-profits in local communities can be a continuous challenge. Please attend this grant researching and writing workshop to learn about potential funding sources that could benefit any of the wonderful non-profit organizations in our communities. Our volunteer instructor will walk you through the research process and how to begin the application process. This is a great class that could benefit anyone from teachers, to local officers in non-profit organizations, and individuals who volunteer with our local organizations. Price: FREEE Class Date: Tuesday November 12, 2019 Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm Location: Classroom 010 (Enter Through Library) Instructor: Ashley DeMuth During each session the Durand-Arkansaw Community Education Program will feature one FREE class in collaboration with a local non-profit organization. The goal is to educate members of our local communities about the various organizations and how you can volunteer. The classes will be taught by members of the organization. This is a great way to learn about our dedicated organizations, as well as ways you can volunteer giving back to our community.
