Royal Marines Museum Booty or Boatneck is Naval slang for a Royal Marine. In 1964 Royal marines were granted the privilege of remaining seated during the Loyal Toast.

Royal Signals Museum In 1815 it took weeks or even months to send a message. By 1830 it took two days! The travel time from New York City to Cleveland in 1800 was two weeks in 1860 it took only two days to reach Chicago from New York City.

Solent Sky In 2011 Solent Sky will host events celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire and the 80th anniversary of Britain winning the Schneider Trophy outright.

Buckler’s Hard Buckler’s Hard was originally going to be a free port for the import and export of sugar called Montagu Town before becoming a shipbuilding village.

Museum of Army Flying The Museum of Army Flying has a world record breaking Lynx helicopter. In 1972 the aircraft flew at a record speed of 321.74 km/hr, even flying backwards at 130 km/hr!

Exbury Gardens The author Nevil Shute was at Exbury Gardens during WWII and based his novel ‘Requiem for a Wren’ on a true life incident when a Junkers 188E was shot down in April 1944.

The Buckler’s Hard Maritime Museum

The Buckler’s Hard Maritime Museum is currently in the process of being renewed with the main exhibition area redisplay, opening for Easter 2011. In addition to the Woodland Walk at Buckler’s Hard, visitors will also be able to access the newly opened Apple Orchard.
