The ministract concept opens a big creativity door and frees our
imagination into realms of hidden patterns, colors, even secretsdreams...

In the transition from minimalism to color abstractness one can find
a world of interpretation.
A new reality is presented through the many possibilities of
looking at a subject. In most cases, they are self-referenced and
relate only to what is depicted in the frame.
Marzena achieves this by exploring the colorfulness of her subjects
and by the different techniques applied that characterizes her
photography.
They are autonomous and promote an insight on the ordinary.

Some of her photos are minimal in their true meaning, others fall more to
the abstract side. Nonetheless she strikes me as a seeker of the colorful, anexperimenter of visual compositions that doesnt conform with the existing frames.

After last issue of DOF I ended up feeling I hadnt quite explain minimalism in all
its scope and Im pretty sure Im still not doing it with this one. Nonetheless I will
be quite satisfied by at least present the two most prominent interpretations.
In a world of new trends, the concept of ministract fits like a glove and even
though you might not agree with it, it sure sums up what is quickly becoming a
photographic technique and an artistic expression.
My own interpretation of ministract, is one Im already putting into practise with
some experimental subjects (to be shown in future issues) and that combines what
I understand as true from both concepts. On one hand, through minimalism, you
have what can be identified, what can in a closer look communicate itself and be
just that, pure and minimal, even if just at a technical level. On the other hand, the
introduction of abstraction in our perception of this same subject, brings into light
what is not immediately there, what the viewer as to make of it.
This kind of topics always brings me down to more theoretical thoughts that Im
sure not everybody will be agreeing with... thankfully DOF is about the photos that
are featured here not about what I ramble over them...
