Meets Monday

6 for 6.30pm

At Rotary Hall

Brownell Crescent, Medina

Visitors always welcome

Fun meeting tonight, we celebrated Rotary’s 115th birthday plus we also made it

Hat Night 2020. President Wendy added a ‘party’ atmosphere by providing a

mix of cup-cakes, lollies etc to the mix. We additionally celebrated ‘Hat Night’

Where members wore their choice of hat. (pics below)

Guest Speaker was our own PP Max Bird gave us a rundown on dealing with

RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) re registering your

project plus just how comprehensive Rotary’s Personal Accident & Travel

Insurance is.

Very enjoyable Progressive Dinner was held last Saturday night with entrée at

the William’s residence and the rest at the Iriks. Great night all round, food

aplenty plus refreshed fellowship opportunities all round.

I need to make a correction to last week’s comments, I stated that I thought that

we had not had a progressive dinner since May 2007, wrong!

Thanks to PP Ed I delved a little more effectively and soon discovered that we

did indeed have a Progressive Dinner on Saturday 11th August 2012 also a

Guest Who’s Coming to Dinner on May 15th 2010.

Still not too late to register for Conference 2020

Conference Registration closes February 29th

In keeping with Rotary’s Birthday we dressed up in crazy hats (in lieu of Lift the Lid day) and partook of birthday cuisine in the form of cupcakes, fairy bread, lollies, and saveloys with tomato sauce.

Club Member Max Bird was our guest speaker. Max shared information on accessing grants from RAWCS with the view of encouraging someone to take advantage of the money that is available to club for projects. He made it look so easy.

The Kwinana Rotary ‘Hatters’

A couple are lying in bed. The man says, "I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world." The woman replies, "I'll miss you..."

Why you don't ever see the headline:

"Psychic Wins Lottery"?

Why do Doctors call what they do a "Practice"?

Why the man who invests all your money is called a “Broker”?

Why they are called apartments when they are all stuck together

Why they call the airport "The Terminal" if flying is so safe?

Bills paid, money in the bank.

Treasurer Bob just wished to point out that one of the downsides of having the luxury

of our own hall etc, is that we are charged for electricity and water at commercial

rates, when in fact where water is concerned we use very little !!!

Members are requested to ensure they contact PP Greg Williams by Sunday am with

any apology for the next meeting. We are having to pay for meals ordered for you and

not used because of non-attendance.

' An elderly gentleman... ..

Had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%

The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, 'Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.'

The gentleman replied, 'Oh, I haven't told them yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!'

24th February 2020

1. Global grant GG 2095275 has been submitted to Foundation. we are now in the hands of the

Rotary Gods.

Transferred AUD $16,605 to the Foundation account today assuming the Rotary Gods will approve the Global

Grant Shortly.

Now have a lot of new questions to answer, what worked last year don’t this year.

Why am I going thru the blood, sweat and bloody tears again?

2. My associate RPTLE member in Melbourne is updating at least 3 Rotary Clubs that have shown an interest in

RPTLE future projects, we have already had one Skyhydrant water filter and AUD $7,000.00 donated already.

3. That will be enough money to start at least one modified sea container with a Skyhydrant Water Filter and

storage tanks, while we wait on an answer from Foundation.

4. Gave an information talk to the Rotary Club of Kwinana Monday 24th February on the benefit of registering

your projects with RAWCS especially for insurance purposes.

5. RPTLE have also been invite to join Timorese Rotarians and Rotaractors at the inaugural Zone 8 Rotary

Timor-Leste Project Expo in Dili, at the Timor Plaza Hotel on the 14th -16th of August 2020.

Guest Speaker Presentation:

Gave an informed personalised view on the benefits of registering your projects with RAWCS, some of the

benefits are

1. It is easy to complete the paper work

2. Once the project Manager has the registration number assigned to the project then anyone can make

donations to that account and receive a taxable invoice for taxation benefit’s this is open to all, private

people, companies and corporations

3. All monies received apart from the 2.5% administration fees are held in trust for that project only,

4. The project manager can at any time nominated a bank account to have these funds deposited into,

normally this takes about 48 hours

5. Travel Request for a working party are done promptly and once completed each member whether a

Rotarian or not will receive their Travel insurance documentation outlining what is covered and how

to make a claim.

6. Each member of the team will answer or agree to the following

• Fill in the Application Form.

• Agree to the Agreement, Release & Waiver of Liability.

• Including the Code of Conduct, policies.

• The Club President signs the Signature Form.

• Your Doctors signs the fit to travel Medical Certificate.

• Child Protection either a working with children or a Police Clearance.

Now you are good to go with no if buts or I think your covered, you have a policy in your hand, that is very

comprehensive.

At the end of the project you will receive from RAWCS a thank you letter and a certificate acknowledging

your time and effort as a team member.

Please also look at the following links for more information on RAWCS, and note there is $1,000.000.00

available from Dick Smith foundation and RAWCS for some dedicated projects

"I haven't eaten anything in four days." She looked at him and said,

"God, I wish I had your willpower."
