What is a DIGIPAK?• A card or paperstock holder for a CD and/or DVD with
the plastic disc tray glued inside• Allows for more creativity and innovation than a folded
insert in a jewel (plastic) cover• It is also seen as more environmentally friendly• It is seen as ‘value added’ to encourage the purchase
of the actual product as opposed to downloads – it can often contain extras such as artwork, videos, extra tracks, booklets or even extra discs
• HOMEWORK – bring in any digipaks that you have at home for some analysis next lesson!
Over to you!?• Research your digipak design• Do some textual analysis of
existing digipak/album covers (both from your chosen genre and outside of it)
• Start to research magazine advertisements for albums – think about which magazines would be appropriate to promote your band (consider price, target audience etc – find out about the ABC figures
• Next week you will need to think about the storyboard and have your questionnaire data collated and analysed
• Also, have a focus group of reliable friends that you can use as a target audience sounding board throughout your production process
• OVER THE SUMMER!• As many of you seem to
having holidays, you will all need to do some individual planning to bring together in September
• Please can you:• Add a digipak/CD album
cover analysis to the blog• Do a rough
draft/planning/initial photography/design for the digipak
• Do a rough draft for the magazine advertisement
• UPDATE THE BLOG WITH YOUR ACTIVITES!
