What is Dental Health?

• Dental health involves keeping the mouth, teeth, and gums healthy.

• A dentist is the doctor that will help you keep your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy.

• A dental hygienist is person that helps the dentist. They will also clean and polish your teeth, and may take x-rays.

• You can control your own dental health

• Use fluoride toothpaste to brush at least 2 times a day

• Make sure you floss daily

• Visit your dentist regularly.

How To Brush

• Put just a little bit of toothpaste on the toothbrush.

• Hold the toothbrush where your teeth meets your gums. This is called the gum line.

• Move the brush back and forth. Brush the outside and inside of each tooth on the top of your mouth and bottom. Count to 10 as you do this.

• Gently brush your tongue…it has germs too.

• DON’T SWALLOW THE TOOTHPASTE.

• Brush twice a day.• Limit your snacks.• Never share your

toothbrush with ANYONE!!!• Buy a new toothbrush when

yours gets really “shaggy” or you have been really sick.

Flossing

• Flossing helps remove plaque that the toothbrush might have missed.

• Floss every day, but have your parents help you.
