About the Community Founded in 1845 after the opening of the Miami-Canal, Delphos is a family-oriented rural community approximately 75 miles southwest of Toledo and less than 50 miles from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
''America's Friendliest City'' has approximately 6,500 residents employed primarily in farming and small industry. Delphos offers easy access to several colleges and technical schools. Numerous local parks provide many options for those who enjoy outdoor activities.
About the DistrictThe Delphos City School District encompasses approximately 72 square miles in portions of Allen and Van Wert counties, including the city of Delphos. With a total enrollment of 1,107 students, the district houses two elementary schools, a middle school, senior high school, and an in-house virtual academy. Hallmarks of the district include an experienced teaching staff, innovative programs, and a diversified curriculum.
The district received a 2011-2012 rating of Excellent with Distinction on the state report card.
The school district enjoys a unique relation- ship with the parochial school community. With a student population approximately two-thirds that of the public school system, St. Johns parish is an important partner in educating the
community's children. The new superinten-dent will be expected to understand and build on the cooperative spirit between the two school communities.
Leadership CriteriaThe Delphos City Board of Education is seeking a collaborative leader whose leadership style encourages bridge building and broad-based community involvement and support.
It is expected that the successful candidate will reside within a 30 mile radius of the city and become an active member of the Delphos community. The successful candidate will:
hold high expectations for self and others, especially in honesty, integrity accessibility, involvement and commitment to the district;
demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high standards and increasing accountability at all levels;
possess an understanding of the unique issues facing our schools;
have excellent speaking and listening skills, and an openness to ideas expressed by board, staff, parents, students, and community members;
have a strong financial background with an ability to work well with the district treasurer;
demonstrate excellent analytical planning and organizational skills and have the ability to maintain a strategic direction.

Terms of Employment and Compensation
The successful candidate will be offered a multiyear contract. The salary will be regionally competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
