It is very exciting to be a part of Zeta. We have so many good
things going. In December we participated in the Salvation
Army's bell ringing. I have heard many good things from those
who rang the bells to help this worthwhile organization. In
January we will be making bags for families at the Ronald
McDonald House. It must be so hard to have a child in the hos-
pital, and I am glad we can do this to help those families.
Our Coordinating Council met on January 7. We are so lucky to
have Martha McCluen as our Area Director. We made some ex-
citing plans, including going to the Teacher Depot on Jan. 23 to
let more women know about DKG.
Thanks to several sisters who assisted me in completing the
President's Biennium Report. That is one of the things I appreci-
ate so much about Zeta - there are so many helping hands.
The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is February
1. The application is available on www.xistate.org/forms. If we
have anyone who is pursuing an advanced degree, please con-
sider applying. The money I received from the Dr. Maycie K.
Southall International scholarship and the Dr. Isabel Wheeler Xi
State Scholarship helped me finish my doctorate with no debt!

If you make a dinner reservation,
and cannot attend, you will need to
pay for the meal. Due to a tight
budget, we need to pay for missed
meals within a week of missing a
meeting.
Members please return the callers'
calls, even if you are not making a reservation. A returned call lets the
caller know that the message was re-
ceived.

Spotlight on Educator
At our January meeting, we will be
drawing for our second semester spotlighted
Zeta sister. The spotlighted educator has to be
currently teaching. We will be providing re-
quested items for her classroom.
WANTED: NEW MEMBERS
We need to add members to our roll. Please
be thinking of those who might be interested
in exploring membership and invite them to
our February meeting. Hopefully, they will
see what a friendly group of women educators
we are and will want to join us. Keep in mind
that members do not have to be employed in
the traditional classroom. If they are in a po-
sition in which they instruct others as part of
their job, they are eligible. (bank trainer,
nurse practitioner, health department
employee, for example)
RONALD MCDONALD House Service Project

If you are willing to help please sign in the appropriate square or if you would rather make a monetary donation, please let Terry Sharp
know. Thank You!
They do not need snacks or toiletry items.
