SAINT CECILIA CONCERT
Wrap up! First, I want to thank everyone who came to our third
annual Saint Cecilia Concert held on Tuesday,
November 18th! It may have been an extremely cold
night outside but the musicians provided much warmth
and beauty in their performance inside our beautiful
Cathedral! If you were expecting Bishop Ricken to
attend, he was scheduled to attend, but was in Chicago
for the installation of the new Archbishop for the
Archdiocese of Chicago. As you know the feast of
Saint Cecilia is November 22nd. She is the patron saint
of music. This concert is a wonderful opportunity for
all of us to give praise and worship to God through the
gift of music. Thank you Saint Cecilia for your
intercession! And please Saint Cecilia, continue to
pray for us who work in God’s Music Ministry.
In His Service,
Jody Strnad, Music Director.
A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR It is good to be back. I want to briefly share two thank you notes I received. The first
one is from Fr. Ron Mrozinski who was grateful for your kindness as he spoke on the Cross
Catholic Outreach. We will be hearing from them every year or two. I think they do some
excellent ministry. He was grateful for your support.
Secondly, we received a thank you note from the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese
of Green Bay in regards to World Mission Sunday, where we raised $2,373 dollars. These
monies are split between three collections that have been consolidated: The Propagation of the
Faith Collection, the Latin America Collection and the Eastern Europe Collection. Thank you
for your generosity.
Finally, I want to encourage all of us to enter into the "Teach my People to Pray" first phase of the
"Disciples on the Way" six year spiritual journey. This first phase will last two years which prepares us for being
better evangelists. We want to share the good news that "God is with us." But we can not do that well if we do not
experience him with us personally. This happens only through a strong prayer life. Please take time to look at your
prayer life. Is there anything that needs to change or could improve. Let's strive to do that. As one tool in this
endeavor, I encourage you to join us for one of the monthly holy hours before the Blessed Sacrament. Please
watch the bulletins for specific times and places. We have deliberately chosen an evening time at the Cathedral
and a midday time at St. John's to try and make this opportunity as available as possible. I would love to see a
strong turn out for this special devotion.

The Micah Center, a sister organization of St. John’s
Homeless Shelter, is a daytime resource center for the
homeless and has been welcoming around 30-35 guests
each day, and the number keeps growing. We provide
warmth, a place to relax, educational resources, arts and
crafts, computer access for jobs, and a friendly welcoming
environment for our daytime guests. To accomplish our
mission we rely on the generosity of the community to help
us with some basic needs for our guests. Currently we find
ourselves in need of paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning
supplies such as antibacterial spray cleaner, comet cleanser,
antibacterial wipes, and Pine Sol or Mr. Clean. We are also
short on warm gloves and hats. As we approach this
wonderful season of giving and sharing, we are hopeful you
can help us out. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
We are located at 700 East Walnut Street.
Open from 8:30-4:40 pm Monday through Friday.
