Number: 38 Date: 9th December 2015
Welcome to week 10, term 4 2015!
Leaving TRBPS: As mentioned in prior newsletters, student numbers are now crucial for planning for next year. Please notify the office promptly
if for any reason your child/children will not be returning next year so we can plan our class structure and ensure we have the right
amount of teaching staff to best serve the community.
‘Moving On Up Day’ / Transition Morning at TRBPS: This event was held on Tuesday from 11.10-12.00pm. The students enjoyed a taste of 2016 as part of our whole school transition
program where they visited and spent time finding out all about what happens in the next year level - with the current teachers of
each level. Our year 6 students attended their local Secondary College as part of the Victorian State Schools regular Year 6-7
transition/orientation program. Next week the students will find out who their teacher will be for 2016 and spend some time in a
meet and greet session. The children are all very excited as the end of the year fast approaches; they are enjoying the transition
program and look forward to meeting their teacher for 2016 next week.
PFA Luncheon: It was an absolute pleasure to attend the beautiful luncheon that was prepared for parents and staff to attend together on Friday
December 4. We had a really nice time relaxing and chatting together. Joan Kitson who is retiring this year was presented with
flowers; unfortunately Joan was absent on the day but the flowers were passed onto her to enjoy. A special thank you is extended
to Mrs Alexis Martin and Mrs Fiona Thomas for setting up the hall and thank you also to all of the families who made such
wonderful food for us to enjoy, it was very much appreciated by all staff. The staff were lucky enough to enjoy some wonderful
donated raffle gifts; so thank you to our parent community and others for their kind thoughts and donations. The staff felt very
spoilt!
The Year 6 Graduation Ceremony The more formal Graduation Ceremony will to take place this year at Brighton Secondary College on Thursday December 10
from 6.30 – 8.30pm. The students will receive their graduation certificates from Mr Moore and I and a gift from the PFA on the
night. The students are currently working very hard on creating a speech about the highlights and great memories of primary
school and their graduation performance. Mr John Moore (SC President) will attend the formal graduation ceremony on behalf of
SC to speak to the exiting students and wish them all the best for their future schooling, as well as to assist with presenting the
Graduation Certificates.
The fun dinner and disco will take place next Tuesday- December 15- in the school hall, students are to arrive at around 6.15pm,
ready to enjoy dinner at 6.30pm.
Staffing - 2016 TRBPS is fortunate to have a multi-skilled and professional teaching and non-teaching staff who are generous with their time
devoted to planning, preparation, teaching and supporting. There is a strong commitment to continued professional learning and
advancing skills which often transfers positively to our children. I am most grateful to all staff for their dedication, generosity of
spirit and preparedness to do the very best for the children to provide a rich, rewarding and stimulating education that encourages
the children to strive for excellence. My sincere thanks go to the members of the leadership team, classroom teachers, specialists
and the non-teaching education support staff who all work very hard to ensure everything runs very smoothly at TRBPS for all of
the students and parents!
Mrs Joan Kitson will be retiring and we certainly wish her all the best for a very happy and exciting retirement.
Mrs Rhonda Jacobs is also continuing on leave for 2016.
