• Inspired by Cezanne, but founded and lead by Picasso and Braque … “nothing but little cubes” . Started with Picasso’s “Les Desmoiselle d’Avignon”

• Subject varied, but color palette was limited to neutrals. ( Though Picasso broke a part and create his signature style that contained many colors)

• ANALYTICAL analyzing form of objects by shattering them into fragments spread out on the canvas

• SYNTHETIC reassemble the structure– formed new art of collage ( so Matisse wasn’t the first to do it!)
