Overcast StitchThe Overcast Stitch is regularly used in crewel embroidery to create thick, raised lines. Begin by following the pattern line with a Split Stitch. Next, stitch the Overcast Stitch over the Split Stitch line. Start at A, slide the needle under the row of Split Stitches, not through the fabric. Bring the needle out at B. Repeat this stitch, covering the entire line.
