Tom also informed us of the existing default
200yds radius from a casualty that the 999
service operator uses to decide if to send for
the AED in an emergency. The Ambulance
Service is currently working on systems to
make this distance greater. In the event of an
emergency, if you know of a defib in the village
at a distance greater than 200yds and tell the
emergency controller, they will direct you to it
Looking at Swinton in google map a 200yd
radius covers more residents if a Cpad was
located in the vicinity of the Band Room in
Middle Street.
The Costs to purchase a cPad is currently
estimated as follows.
WeL Medical iPAD SP1 £750 plus vat
DeFibSafe Cabinet. £520 plus vat.
There are Grants available for community
projects via Ryedale RC, and other organisa-
tions., but these would not cover the full cost.
Possibly up to 50% which leaves us with the
other 50% to find.
Funding options explored were as follows.
Business and Organisations sponsorship
Asking all households to contribute a
small fixed sum of around £2
Fund Raising activity's.
It was also pointed out, that due to the low
attendance, it would be a good idea to canvas
the village and determine if there is enough
support to continue with the project.

The first public meeting to listen to a presenta-
tion by Tom Render from Yorkshire Ambu-
lance Service was held on 9th June in the
reading rooms.
The meting was attended by members of the
events group, two members of the public and
Paul Cuthbertson (PC). Tom gave a outline of
how a cPAD is integrated into the 999
Ambulance response. This discussion gave us
in depth details of which AED and
Outside housing they currently recommend.

allow for it to be used in either a Child or Adult

proposals to reduce the
amount we spend subsidising
bus services by £2m every year.
This was part of our commit-
ment to reduce our overall
expenditure by £92m by the
end of March 2015. Further
announcements by the govern-

we now need to find a further

In order to contribute to this
target, we are consulting on

REQUEST FOR POLICE
ASSISTANCE
This notice is in respect of a
number of crimes which North
Yorkshire Police are
investigating.
Overnight on Sunday 7 June
200 litres of gasoil valued at
£100 was stolen by siphoning
into barrels from The Castle
Howard Estate (Yorkshire Ar-
boretum).
Overnight on Tuesday 12 May
on a farm near Westow, ap-
proximately 100 litres of red
diesel was stolen from a tank
after the nozzle lock was bro-
ken by the offenders.
A report has been taken about
farm buildings on The Lane,
Gate Helmsley being entered, a
padlock on a fuel tank being
cut and red diesel drained out
and stolen.
Overnight on 5th May 2015 a
Husqvarna C120 chainsaw and
a EXO85 Log Splitter were
stolen from a farm in
Thixendale.
Between 1.30pm on Saturday 9
May and 10.30am on Monday
11 May, a building site in the
Beverley Road area of Norton,
Malton was entered and
attempts made to steal a fork
lift truck. The attempt was
unsuccessful.
Overnight (11pm - 6am), a
white Carrera Kracken 20"
frame, 27 gear mountain bike
with black front forks was sto-
len from a secure garage on
Shepherds Hill, Pickering. Five
further garages were broken
into on the same street.
Money changing scam.
There have been several re-
ported incidents across North
Yorkshire whereby suspects
attempt to change a quantity of
£10 notes for £20 notes with
the intention of confusing the
cashier.
Police are warning of a bogus
missionary who is believed to
be targeting churches and ho-
teliers. A man recently
attended the United Reformed
Church in the Redcar area and
spoke with the Minister. The
man told the Minister that he
was a Missionary and that he
was in ill health and his wife
had passed away in Kenya. The
man promised that his son was
on his way over from Canada
and would settle any bills and
money he owed. The Minister
gave the man money to pay for
bills and food. It is believed
that the same man had stayed
at a local bed and breakfast, ran
up a bill and left with the keys
to the property.
Officers believe that the man
has now left the Cleveland area
and could be anywhere in the
country and would warn the
clergy and hoteliers to be vigi-
lant following the inci-
dent.
The suspect is described as a
white South European male,
around 6ft tall, with dark
brown hair which had grey
patches and of medium build.
He wore dark glasses and smart
casual clothing, trousers and
shirts rather than jeans.

cleaned regularly, the salt bins, dog waste
bins and general waste bins are maintained
are just some of the work carried out on a
regular basis.
The chairman of Swinton parish council
councillor Paul Cuthbertson is looking for
sponsors of monthly grass cutting from
May to September at £50 per cut.
These have been kindly sponsored by:-
Mrs & Mrs P Powell May 2015

Swinton and District Excelsior Band Fete at Malton Rugby Club on
Saturday 11th July starting at
2pm.
To see where else we are ap-
pearing over the summer
please have a look at our web-
site www.swinton-band.org
Our priority this year is to
increase the ranks of the train-
ing band and we have started
this by spending some time at
Amotherby School demon-
strating instruments and per-
forming a short programme of
music for the children.
During this session we handed
out leaflets to many of the chil-
dren who showed an interest in
learning, many of who tried an
instrument and made some
very impressive sounds.
They all seemed very enthusias-
tic and we now hope they
can spread some of this enthu-
siasm onto their parents and
persuade them to bring them
along to a Saturday night prac-
tice. It is very rewarding to see
some of the children that we
have started off over the years
move on to become profes-
sional musicians and music
teachers themselves. You do
not have to be of school age to
join the training band and learn
to play. We have several adult
learners in the band and we
welcome all ages. We do
not charge any fees and It is
never too late to learn. We will
also always welcome experi-
enced brass players. If you are
interested see our details below

relegation was becoming more
than just a remote possibility,
that they improved markedly to
the extent they finished a
comfortable eighteen points
ahead of University A who
were consigned to the
play-offs.
Joel Wright didn't miss any of
the twenty one matches, and in
addition ably deputised for the
A team on five occasions.
After an uncharacteristically
slow start he played a leading
role in the B team's revival.
More success followed in the
handicap Shepherd Trophy,
where both the A and B teams
each recorded wins in four
rounds to meet in the final.
The outcome was a tense and
exciting 5-4 victory for the B
team.
With the rules governing who
can play for what team in this
competition not the same as
the League, Martin Lowe was
the victorious B team captain,
together with son Matthew and
Tom Needham.
The unlucky A team
runners-up were James Rule,
undefeated in the final, Joel
Wright and Neil Raine.
Confirmation of Conesthorpe's
dominance in the York Closed
Championships can be seen in

phy winners:-

The 2014/2015
York & District Table Tennis
League season has once again
proved to be a successful one
for the Coneysthorpe Table
Tennis Club, whose home
venue is Swinton Reading
Rooms.
For the sixth successive season
Coneysthorpe A were decisive
winners of the eight team Divi-
sion 1 by a margin of twenty
six points from their nearest
rivals York RI A (one point is
awarded for each set won in a
match).
They were victorious in nine-
teen of the twenty one matches
played, losing two, winning 174
sets and losing 36.
Martin Lowe, who missed
three matches, was undefeated;
James Rule fully justified his
promotion to the A team, only
losing six out of fifty eight sets,
and whilst Ashley Hodgson
endured an injury hit season,
missing nearly half the
matches, he showed he had
lost none of his ability.
