Dear Brother / Sister Ocer:

It is time once again to apply for the $1,000 scholarships awarded by COBA. The

scholarship will be awarded to children from the ages of 5 to 19 (up to 23 for those

attending college). This year, as in previous years, Correction Ocers who are also

students and are attending college will be eligible for the scholarship, as well as the

children of Correction Ocers. No age limit will be applied to Correction Ocers who

are also college students, although proof of current college attendance will be required

of all those who apply.

The COBA Scholarship Fund provides $1,000 scholarship checks to the children of

Correction Ocers. Because of our success and through the support of many generous

donors, the fund has been able to expand its scope over the years to include

scholarship awards for Correction Ocers who are continuing their education, as well

as for retirees.

The strength of our Scholarship Fund is reflected by the unprecedented $650,000 in

scholarships that have been awarded over the past twenty years. Since its inception in

1996, the COBA Scholarship Fund has provided a total of 650 scholarships.

We encourage you to fill out the application and return it as soon as possible.

All applications must be received by November 9th, with the attached verification of

student status. The lottery drawing will be held at the November General Membership

Meeting at Riccardo’s Catering located at: 21-01 24th Avenue, Astoria, NY 11102.

Please note that this is a one time scholarship award. Previous winners are not eligible.

Winner need not be present.
