NATAPAC Breakfast Recap: Not Just anAverage Professional At 7:15 a.m. June 25, more than 300 members assembled in South Seas GH forwhat NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, called “the largest NATAPACBreakfast yet.” The breakfast is an annual fundraiser for the NATA Political ActionCommittee (NATAPAC) to fund the political efforts necessary for the progression ofthe profession. This year, the keynote speaker was Ronnie Barnes, ATC, the firstpresident of NATA Research & Education Foundation and a NATA Hall of Famer.

NATA Press Events Garner Local, NationalAttention

NATA conducted two press events June 25 that garnered local and nationalawareness to advance patient care. National media outlets, including ESPN.comand Forbes, discussed the findings from a survey conducted by the NATAIntercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine evaluating the adoption of the NCAAindependent medical model of care. KTNV (ABC) and KLAS (CBS) filmed NATAPresident Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, NATA’s new AT in Residence EmilyBuckingham, ATC, and members of the NATA Public Relations Committeedemonstrating cold water Immersion with Darren Woods, wide receiver forUniversity of Nevada at Las Vegas, to educate on heat stroke and how athletictrainers’ response to exertional heat illness. NATA also announced that it isdonating CWI tubs to local Clark County secondary schools that have a certifiedathletic trainer.
