• NAICS – pronounced “nakes”: The North American
Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard
used by the federal government to uniformly classify
business services and products using unique six-digit
codes. The federal government also uses Federal Supply
Codes (FSC) and Product Service Codes (PSC) to
categorize what they buy: FSCs = (4) numbers, and PSCs
= a combination of four characters using letters and
numbers.
