The Site Ready Program is a regional eff ort to accelerate the redevelopment of former industrial sites in the Ohio River Valley. The program will capitalize on current and future opportunities for brownfi elds redevelopment in decaying river towns presented by the development of the Marcellus Shale play along the Ohio River.
The Site Ready regional collaborators will gather information on targeted regional sites based on forecasted regional market demand rather than waiting for specifi c inquiries from site selectors and investors. This program will put currently overlooked brownfi elds back on the radar of site selectors, leading to direct investment in brownfi eld sites in the Ohio River Valley.
Planned Program Impact • Regional platform to maximize redevelopment prospects on brownfi eld sites • Increased economic development on brownfi elds in Ohio River region • Increased capacity for regional redevelopment • Strategy for showcasing regional brownfi eld assets • $20 million in total new investment on targeted sites • 300 jobs created on targeted sites
Strategies • Engage public and private sector stakeholders around targeted Ohio River brownfi elds sites • Increase the supply of “ready” regional sites through site- specifi c planning and marketing • Use regional revitalization expertise to leverage public and private investment on strategic sites • Develop an integrated media strategy highlighting the availability of strategic sites along the Ohio River
