InstructionsThankyouforthepurchaseoftheFanatecStandaloneConversionPCB,thisguidewilltalkyouthroughtheinstallationofthePCBintotheFanatecPorsche918RSRwheel.Caution:ThismayvoidyourwarrantyoftheFanatecPorsche918RSRwheel.Thisisareversiblemodification,howeveranyholesdrilledintheplasticcasecan’tbereversed.

1.Placethewheelonitsfrontasshown.

2.Removethepaddleshifterswithahextool.Therearetwohexscrewsperpaddle.

3.Thenremovethefourscrewsfortheoutercaseandremoveoutercasetorevealtheinsides.

Withthecaseandpaddlesremoved.TheWheelshouldlooklikethis:

4.Removethefourhexscrewsfromthefrontofthewheel.

5.Next,leftuptherearpartofthewheelandremovethe2pinshiftercablesfromeachside.

Ifounditbesttousesomelongnosepliersandtakingmytime.Whenthisisdone,pulltherearpartofthewheelawayfromthefrontandplaceonsomeprotectivepaperorcardasshown.

6.Removethe6hexscrews(identifiedabove)fromtheundersideoftherearpartofthewheel.7.Removethegluefromthe8pinconnectorofthePCB.Trytodothisbyrollingthegluealong,asaposetopullingverticallyawayfromthePCB.

8.Whenalltheglueisremoved,pulltheconnectorsapart.Toavoidpullingtheentireconnectorofftheboard,usebothhands.OneonthePCBconnector,andoneonthecableconnector.Iusedmylefthandtopullonthecableconnector,andmyrighthandtoholdtheconnectoronthePCB.

9.WhentherearpartiscompletelydisconnectedremovetheFanatecbaseadaptorcompletelyasthisisnowsurplustorequirements.10.Withtherearpartofthewheel,placeyourspacer(notsupplied)ontoitandscrewinthreeofthesixhexscrewsremovedinpart6.Notethatnotallsixholeswilllineup,don'tworrythisisnotaproblemasthequickreleasewillpopulate

theremainingthreeholes.Itisrecommendedthatyouuseathreadlockingglueonyourhexscrews.Theseareespeciallyimportantasyouwillnoteasilybeabletogettothesetotightenthemup.

11.Whenthespacerisattached,placeonyourquickreleasewheelsideadaptor.Wewillrefixthetophexscrewwiththeearthwirewhenthetwohalvesarebacktogetheragain.12.Ontherearofthespacer,placeyourquickrelease‘wheelside’mount,fitintoplacewiththethreeremainingholes.Werecommendusingthreadlockerhereto.Makesuretogettheadaptortherightwayup.

13.Whenthequickreleaseisattachedtotherearpartofthewheel,bringthetwohalvestogetherandre-attachtheearthwire,rememberingtoplacethemetalworkontosomeprotectivepaper.

14.FindasuitableplacefortheconversioncircuitboardandfixontothemainPCB.Ourchosenlocationisshownbelow.MakesurethatyougivethePCBenoughclearancefromthemetalwork,whichwillcoverthePCB.

15.Placethe8pinto8pinconnectorintothesocketonthemainPCBandtheconversionPCB.MakesuretoholdtheconnectorsonthePCBtoelimatestrainonthesolderedcontacts.

16.PlaceacabletiebaseontothePCBandcabletiethe8bluecablestokeepallcablesclearoftherearmetalpiecewhichwillcomeoverthetop.

17.Findasuitableplaceintheplasticcasefora12mmholefortheUSBcableandglandtoentertherearofthewheel.

18.FittheglandandcablethroughtheholeandinsulatethelooseshieldwireoftheUSBcable.19.ScrewintheUSBcableswiththefollowingpinout:+5V RedD- WhiteD+ GreenGND Black

20.AtthisstageitwouldbeagoodideatomakesuretherearenoelectricalobstructionsorelectricalshortsontheboardafterworkingonitandtestwithWindowstomakesurethatallofthebuttonsandjoystickswork.WhenyouarehappythatWindowsisseeingalloftheinputs.Replacetheshifterpaddlesandrearcover.
