Clairgate “Extra” Super Fish
Congratulations to our wonderful District Swimming Team who swam on Friday, 1st March at the District Carnival. As usual our “Clairgate” behaviour was outstanding and all swimmers gave their absolute best – well done!
Huge thanks go to our amazing teachers: Mrs Millevoi for organising the entire carnival, Mr Blanch for all his hard work on the day and behind the scenes, Miss Grace for being the data manager on the day, Mrs Whalan for being a great team manager and Mrs Grady for all her hard work on the day. Well done to Clairgate! We have 4 students representing our district at the Regional Carnival at Homebush next week – Good Luck everyone!
I was especially proud to be announcing (and of course silently cheering for Clairgate) on the day of racing – I am always so pleased to see our students displaying the outstanding qualities of respect, resilience and “having a go”….that’s the Clairgate spirit!
Parking Issues I know at Clairgate we all have the best interests of our children at heart and I urge you to be a good role model when stopping at the Kiss and Drop Zone – PLEASE DO NOT PARK in this zone for more than 2 minutes – and PLEASE DO NOT PARK in the No Stopping Zones in the streets near the school – especially Shearer Street. Apparently some people are parking in an illegal manner and then calling their children to cross the road. STAFF CAR PARK - the only people allowed to come into the staff car park for a very brief pick up or drop off are those with a current disability permit. This can either be the RMS official permit or our Clairgate permit which is issued under special circumstances. Some general reminders…

Clairgate Public School
Greetings to everyone in the school community,
A little information around attendance.
We thank parents and carers for ensuring that their child
attends school every day and on time. However, every
morning we have occasional students at Clairgate who
are late for school. It is very important for all students to
arrive at school on time every day. Every class
commences their reading, writing and spelling learning
activities promptly at 9:00am after rolls are marked.
Students who are late miss out on this important
learning. If a child is just 10 -15 minutes late for school
every day this will result in one hour of lost learning time
every week totalling 10 hours a term. Students who
arrive late are disadvantaged because they miss out on
crucial learning time. This also applies when students are
collected early and they miss out on afternoon learning
activities.
It is a legal requirement that all children attend school
every day. The exceptions are: illness, injury or infectious
disease. Periods of nonattendance will affect a student’s
educational progress. Regular non-attendance will result
in failure to obtain the continuity in their education that
is desirable and necessary for them to succeed and
achieve.
Thank you for supporting your child and their
educational journey.
Mrs Lisa McInally

Sports Report
St Marys District Swimming Carnival
Clairgate were honoured to organise and run this year’s St Marys District Swimming Carnival last Friday at Mt Druitt Pool. The carnival involved all 12 schools from our local area competing to hopefully be crowned District Champions and for students to gain selection in the St Marys District Swimming Squad. The finalised St Marys team will be announced shortly and will participate in the Area (Sydney-West) Swimming Carnival at Homebush on Tuesday, 12th March. Clairgate’s talented swimming squad participated extremely well. All of our Clairgate teachers present were very proud to see our swimmers competing with great effort and determination. Our school team’s enthusiastic support for all of their team mates was particularly pleasing. Thank you also to Clairgate supporters who cheered on our team at the pool. More details will be published in our next school newsletter. A huge well done and thank you to the following
Clairgate staff who made this carnival so great:
Mrs Millevoi & Mr Blanch (Organisers), Mrs Lawrow
(Announcer), Mrs Grady (Chief Finish Judge), Ms Grace
(Recorder), Mrs Whalen (Team Manager), Ms Paulic
(Tech Advisor), Mrs McInally, Mrs Younan & all the
canteen staff (organised and delivered drinks & lunches
to all district teachers officiating at the pool).
Finally, the following students did an amazing job as
helpers at the carnival: Layla-Rose Battah,
Paige Leonard, Nathan Jenkins & Mitchell Perry.

parents and supporters. Congratulations to all of our
Clairgate Superfish! A detailed summary of the main
awards and winners will be published in the next school
newsletter!

PSSA District Teams Trials Day
Congratulations to our Clairgate students who will be
attending the St Marys PSSA District Team Trials Day at Mark
Leece Fields this Friday (8th March). Students attending
received a blue note last week. All notes should be returned to
Mr Wilkinson ASAP. Mr Wilkinson will be supervising our
Clairgate students on the day.
Our students are hoping to gain selection into the St Marys
District Teams for Rugby League, Soccer, Softball, Netball, AFL
and Touch. It is expected that the coaches/selectors for each
sport will be handing out notes to their selected team
members on the day.
A huge thank you & well done to the following Clairgate staff
who will be District Team coaches/selectors for various sports:
Ms Grace (Girls Soccer) and Ms Bartlett (Girls Softball) &
Mr Blanch ( Girls Touch) Finally, a big thank you to Mrs Judge
& Mr Wilkinson who will be escorting our student
Library Report
We have had a wonderful time in Library lately. There
have been a stack of new books come in to our
classrooms and Library thanks to a generous donation
organised by the Grima family as well as some lovely
books purchased with the rewards earned in Book Club.
Our new Library Monitors have been enjoying their
responsibilities at lunchtime.
Stage three have been creating fantasy bikes on the
computers and laptops then using their figurative
language skills to describe them with similes.
Our friends in the Toddler Group are very excited to
borrow books each week to take home and enjoy.
Stage one have been investigating some of our favourite
characters such as the pigeon who does not want to take
a bath and Elmer the elephant.
Don’t forget to encourage reading by borrowing books
from the Library each week.
Stewart House envelopes have been sent home today,
Please return them by 16th May to ensure that we get your
entry into the $4,000 draw.
