Be in control of your profi tsPhilips GreenVision DIM gives you the control over your entire lighting installation to ensure that every Watt of energy it burns adds more value to your crop
Continuing our tradition of developing
innovative and reliable lighting solutions for
horticultural applications, we are presenting
Philips GreenVision DIM. A system giving
you the opportunity to easily control the
light level and monitor the performance
of GreenPower 600W and 1000W EL 400V
lamps at any moment.
Now it is possible to give your crop the
exact amount of light they need at any
time of the day, giving you the opportunity
to better control the climate inside the
greenhouse without sudden changes.
If you have the possibility to deliver energy
back into the power grid, you can smoothly
adjust the electricity consumption of your
lighting installation while maintaining a good
light uniformity.

Philips GreenVision DIM provides you with a
flexible lighting installation in line with the
requirements of modern greenhouses:
GrowthLight level in line with the growth
phase of the plant or the time of the day
Optimal energy balance between own use and
energy sales
Optimised operations thanks to easy installation
monitoring via open standard control system
Sense and simplicity installation
GrowthLight level
You can vary the GrowthLight level by using GreenVision
DIM for individual control of systems or for control
per zone. If you connect light sensors to your climate
computer you can easily adjust the light level between
100% and 50% of the offering the right amount of light
any time of the day.
Optimal energy balance
Energy use is continually monitored, ensuring that you
always stay within any agreement made with your energy
supplier. In addition, other greenhouse systems can
be used more efficiently because of dimming. e.g. no
voltage peak stress for generator, no efficiency loss due
to warm-up time for lighting installation. When using a
dimmable installation, extensive on/off switching will be
avoided, keeping the installation within the warranty usage
conditions and preventing sudden climate changes in the
greenhouse.
Optimised operations
The system warns you of potential lamp failure or driver
overheating before component failure, simplifying
maintenance and avoiding energy waste. Philips
GreenVision DIM gear makes use of the DALI interface
(Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). As it is widely
supported by the lighting industry, it enables coupling to
other DALI devices.
Sense and simplicity installation
You will have low daylight interception and less load to the
greenhouse construction due to small dimensions and low
weight of the system. SOFTSTART feature allows usage of
standard cabling and fuses reducing the cost of installation.
Further electronic gear ensures safe operation (e.g. in case
of over voltage, lamp end of life, etc). Philips GreenVision
DIM is deployed via certified lighting fixture manufacturers,
installers and climate computer providers to make sure
you have a perfectly working installation in minimum
amount of time. Please contact your local representative
for more details.
Proof positive - Van der Drift Roses Van der Drift Roses is a modern, state of art greenhouse
built in 2007. His four hectares Red Naomi are lit by 6,000 fixtures equipped with 1000W GreenVision / GreenPower light system. An intelligent checkboard switching anticipates the varying light- and energy conditions. The system configuration thus protects the rose against sudden climate changes while maintaining a uniform light level.
After two seasons with the GreenVision DIM installation, I can say it meets my expectations. I can realize the desired light climate any time throughout the lighting season, resulting in a uniform and consistent production of superior A1 quality roses. The systems flexibility allows me to react to the energy imbalance market and secures optimal co-generator loads. Altogether I benefit from 5-10% additional energy savings. If I had to, I wouldnt hesitate investing again, as I can clearly see the benefits for my business

Example situation:
The figure below indicates the results: a potential extra
growth of 10% in fresh weight (g/plant) combined with
25% of energy savings.
In his first year of using Philips GreenVision DIM, Van der
Hoorn dimmed about 1000 hours at times when the light
level was too high to ensure optimal crop growth.
Approximately 500 hours were effective dim hours that
could not be solved by 50/50 switching. Over the year,
this resulted in energy savings of e12.375 per hectare (see
table below). Now with new insights on light sensitivity of
different Phalaenopsis varieties over the day found by
Plant Dynamics, Van der Hoorn can further fine-tune the
set points in his computer to come to even better crop
and energy management.
Philips and our partners can help you with calculating your
break-even point for the use of GreenVision DIM.

The greenhouse from Van Der Hoorn Orchideen
is a Kas zonder Gas. It doesnt use any natural gas.
It stores heat from the sun for heating in the winter.
In this innovative greenhouse a dedicated lighting system
fits the philosophy of sustainable use of energy.
I use GreenVision DIM because I believe that for
a light-sensitive crop like Phalaenopsis the ability
to add the right amount of light at the right time
without sudden changes in light level will prevent
plant (light) stress and will lead to faster growth and
better quality. Maurice van der HoornPhotography by Groentekstbureau Arkesteijn
Together with Plant Dynamics and Van der Hoorn Orchideen, we performed a field test to indicate the
crop and energy benefits of the use of dynamic lighting for Phalaenopsis. For the test we used a plant
model developed by Plant Dynamics. As input the climate data and plant sensitivity measurements
over the day and during the lighting period were used.
