Director’s Summary :
As usual, our staff and student body are working diligently toward a successful school year.
Mrs. McFarland's 6th graders are progressing well with beginning algebra concepts. They are working on writing numerical expressions, variable expressions, equations, and inequalities in real world situations. Sharpening their skills in expository writing and summarizing are language arts. An example of an expository writing project: 6th
graders are currently planning, organzing and writing a holiday cookbook made up of recipies that the students researched from family favorites.
In Mrs. Freeland's 4th grade reading class, students have been working on identifying the problem and solution in a narrative text. Mrs. Freeland's 5 th graders have been working on the elements of a story to include exposition, rising actions, climax, falling actions, and resolution. In math, 4th graders have been working on word problems and fractions, while 5th graders have been working on multiplication of decimals and fractions.
