Security – whether to protect property, assets or those people using them – remains of paramount importance, and not just for critical infrastructure. Security impacts every organisation or business, regardless of size, sector or location.
For many, however, and particularly for those firms
interacting directly with the consumer, the challenge
is in delivering appropriate levels of protection without
adversely impacting the customer experience. More than
this, it is about seeing security as something positive,
harnessing new technology and focusing on the
customer journey.
It is with this in mind that Chubb, an electronic security
specialist, has designed Chubb® SecurExit – an integrated
access control solution allowing secure entry/exit to help
users further support their customers’ experience.
Optimising the customer journey
4
Chubb® SecurExit is a solution combining a number of integrated security technologies to manage and control the storage, access and movement of vehicles within a secure environment.
At the heart of the solution is a surface-mounted rising-kerb,
which controls the entry/exit of vehicles onto a site.
The kerb, which can also be used in conjunction with
a rapid-arm barrier, is sufficiently robust to withstand the
impact of a five tonne vehicle travelling at 60mph and yet
requires no extensive civil works or lengthy installation
time. As such it can be removed and re-deployed to other
parts of a site, or to a new location altogether, as needs
change. It is also ideally suited to more challenging
environments, such as multi-storey facilities, where
ground works can present an issue.
Also critical is the bespoke integration applications and
specific use of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition
(ANPR) technology and IP-based intercom and CCTV
with built-in video analytics. The ANPR and High Definition
(HD) cameras enable vehicles to be recognised and their
journey tracked throughout a site. The video analytics also
allow certain behaviours to be identified and responded
to, should the need arise. By further integrating the latest
digital intercom technology, visitors are able to speak to
a remote operator within a dedicated monitoring centre who
can provide assistance where required and control access
outside of normal working hours. Facial ID recognition
is also possible and images matched to a global database.
An integrated solution
The surface mounted kerb benefits:
• Zero civil works
• EFO (emergency fast operation)
• Vandal resistant
• Fire and safety compliant with manual override
• Rapid rise independent rising barrier arm
• 5 tonnes impact resistance
• Re-deployable, with modular enhancements

Fully customisable livery to match the rest of your
parking environment and provide a seamless experience
for your customers.
Self-powered and efficiently deployable to give you
a flexible solution to meet your current and future business
requirements. This solution can also be deployed in
temporary locations where a permanent installation is not
necessary or feasible. Expansion modules are designed
to be backward compatible so the solution can expand
as your business needs evolve.
Automated Vehicle Damage Inspection Module
provides unquestionable automated evidence of vehicle
condition leaving and returning to the premises. When this
is linked with the ANPR system data can be received,
reviewed and verified in minutes.
Secure entry/exit

Underside vehicle inspection module
provides the ability to scan the underside of vehicles
for suspicious items.
Automated vehicle drivers licence authentication
module to verify the driver of the vehicle.
Biometric access control with biometric readers to
verify driver authenticity and provide entry/exit as per
the predefined access rights.
Intelligent induction loop vehicle detection
to accurately detect vehicle presence and eliminate
the need to override the system by placing a metallic
object over the loop.
Remote diagnostics module allows for remote
monitoring, enabling you to check the status of the
system, change parameters and diagnose any issues
to minimise impact on your business.

Due to the design of the surface-mounted rising-kerb and
the integrated nature of the solution, Chubb® SecurExit is
equally well suited but not limited to:
• Car hire companies
• Fleet depots
• Hospitals and first responders
• VIP conferences and events
• Military establishments
• Secure car parks, especially multi-storey car parks
• Construction
or indeed any permanent or temporary site where there
is a need for constant vehicle access, and a need to
monitor the safety of those vehicles 24/7.
Fleet smart
A particular application for Chubb® SecurExit is for the
management of larger vehicle fleets. By using Secure Exit
to manage access to the site where the vehicles are kept,
fleet operators can confidently leave keys inside each
vehicle waiting for the drivers to arrive. This greatly
enhances operational efficiency and management control
without sacrificing security, and fleet operators are able
to demonstrate an immediate and quantifiable return
on investment (ROI).
Proven technology
Chubb® SecurExit is already the chosen solution for Avis
Budget Group, one of the leading car rental business in
the UK and mainland Europe. Here the emphasis is on
customer service. Using a mobile app, customers can
complete the check-in process via their smartphone when
they arrive on site and then go to their chosen vehicle
where the keys will be waiting. The result is no more
queues and enhanced customer satisfaction, all with the
appropriate level of security. The car rental company
saves money, improves operational efficiency and can
re-deploy staff to more value-added activities.
Multiple applications

11
Chubb® SecurExit is a solution that can be tailored to meet
our customer’s individual requirements both now and in
the future. Chubb has a proven track record globally, with
all projects managed and controlled by an experienced
in-house Project Management and Project Support teams
providing constancy of hardware, design, price, deployment
and quality across our clients’ estates. Our people work
hard to understand site dynamics, daily operations,
compliance regulations and staff cultures.
Our systems are cross-integrated meaning that all
devices not only talk to the front-end solution but can
interlink between each other providing a truly resilient
security solution that has the capability for a modular
expansion roll out.
Managed system
Chubb supports Chubb® SecurExit with a managed
service option delivered by a dedicated team
of in-house specialists. These services include:
• Hosting of the access control and intercom services,
reducing the need for expensive IT infrastructure
• System administration, reducing the need
for dedicated trained in-house personnel
• Supply and configuration of access control
cards and accessories
• Ensuring compliance with local legislation
and company policies
• Schedule access rights reporting in line with
company policy
• Health monitoring of all devices
• Audit reporting.
Managing permissions
Chubb® SecurExit can also manage the necessary
approvals required for any mechanical or electrical
installation works. This is particularly important for works
at airports where a number of specific factors have to be
considered including: the appearance of the physical
feature; its size and structure; the materials used in its
manufacture; and any dangerous chemicals or
components that pose a risk. Additionally, the authorities
will need to know what fire protection measures and
emergency override features are in place.
Managing union approvals
With the introduction of a new security system, approval
from unions will often be required. Chubb can work
closely with the local unions to ensure the design and
use of CCTV, and the recording and transmission of
images adheres to their guidelines, giving reassurances
who has access to the images, who is being recorded,
and the security of the monitoring centre.
Service and maintenance
Chubb has a dedicated team of technical and customer
support representatives who are able to assist and
support systems 24/7, 365 days per year along with
field-based service engineers that will attend site if the
fault cannot be fixed remotely.
