Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church
OUR MISSION STATEMENTFounded in the good news of Christ that “God so loved the world that he gave (us) his only Son”(Jn 3:16) and knowing that he (Christ) “came that we might have life — life in all fullness” (Jn 10:10) and rooted in Jesus’ command to “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34), we the membersof Christ the Redeemer Parish commit ourselves:
• To foster an understanding and sharing of Christ’s message
• To celebrate the glory of God in liturgy which recognizes our diversity and calls us to oneness in God’s presence
• To challenge the faithful to respond to Christ’s call to meet the needs of all people with compassion and charity.

Please sign this weekend, Nov. 21-22 and next weekend, Nov. 28-29 after mass. The worst shortages of all blood types occur during the summer and winter holidays. Or for your convenience, you can sign up online: www.inovabloodsaves.org. For specific questions about travel or medical restrictions, please call an INOVA donor advocate: 571-434-3628. For general questions or more information about donating, contact Michele Hawes: 703-444-5136/[email protected]. Or check out the CTR website www.ctrcc.org for information under the Get Involved tab. LINK CHRISTMAS FOOD COLLECTION LINK is depending on CTR to feed the hungry this Christmas. Please bring your non-perishable food items to Atonement Hall after all the Masses the weekends of Nov. 28/29 and Dec. 5/6. Cash or check donations are always appreciated and will be used to purchase perishable goods as well as grocery gift cards and can be given to a LINK volunteer or placed under the door of the parish office. The top 10 needs are canned tuna, canned meat, boxed rice/pasta side dishes, canned fruit, tomato products including pasta sauce, packaged potato products, bagged dry beans, jelly and soup. For more information on year-round LINK volunteer opportunities please log on to www.linkagainsthunger.org. Thank you. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES LINK Against Hunger is in need of both regular and back-up drivers to pick up food at local grocery stores and deliver it to either the food pantry in Herndon or directly to the hungry at a variety of local facilities. If you are interested in this ministry, please call Yasha Arant at 703-444-9117 or 703-819-5861. GIVING TREE The Giving Tree began last weekend and runs through December 6th. This is a great opportunity to help over 1400 families in our county have a more blessed and fruitful Christmas. The greatest need is for fall and winter clothing as well as teen girl gifts such as hair/make-up accessories and toiletry gift sets. Also in need are blankets for seniors. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
INITIATION
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA)
“You say that I am a king…” The church’s Liturgical Year comes to an end with today’s Feast of “Christ the King” the ruler of the universe. In today’s world, kingships belong to the world of fantasy or ancient history. Yet, we do understand power and dominion and the immensity of the universe.
We also understand what it means to move from one age to the next and to stand in between the judgment of life and death in this world now. Perhaps the simplest key to this Feast is that Jesus Christ has conquered death and begun this new age in which we can have a part.
As the church prepares to end one liturgical year and begin to anticipate the new, what changes are you seeking that God may offer to you in fullness and eternity?
If you are an unbaptized Adult or have an unbaptized child over the age of 7 interested in becoming catholic through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and communion or are from a different denomination and interested in becoming Catholic? Please contact Jay Cuasay, Director of Faith Formation at 703-430-0811 ext. 130 or [email protected].
