Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Wednesday, January 6th the Chamber welcomed new business Rockin’ Bubbles Car Wash at 719 North Charles Street., Warrensburg, Missouri.
Karen Sligh, Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay, gathered the crowd and officially welcomed Rockin’ Bubbles owners Chris Michael, Melissa
Michael, and Steve Hendrix. The owners had a vision for the new car wash in Warrensburg not to be just another car wash! Chris spoke about the different types of equipment used at the car wash and that most of the
parts are made in the USA. He ensured the crowd that you will be able to tell the difference between the different car wash packages. Rockin’
Bubbles offers monthly car wash packages to include a VIP Unlimited Wash Club. There is no need to worry about not having time to go through the car
wash as Rockin’ Bubbles can process around 100 cars in just ONE HOUR.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Thursday, January 7th, Chamber members, clients, family and friends gathered together to
celebrate West-Central Independent Living Solutions (WILS) newly renovated facility located
at 610 N. Ridgeview Drive, Warrensburg, Missouri.
Chamber Board Chair Casey Lund welcomed attendees to include Mayor Robin Allen and
Council member Donna Defrain and then introduced Julie Steele, Interim Executive Director of W-ILS who explained how each program works for people with disabilities by helping them with
supportive programs such as low cost transportation, assistive technology, and peer support groups. With the completion of the renovation it now offers more room to allow
individuals in accessing and using WILS telecommunications program.

MLK Award Luncheon
On Wednesday, January 13th the Chamber celebrated the MLK Service Awards Luncheon at Cross Eyed Cricket Restaurant.
Suzanne Taylor, Executive Director from the chamber began with introductions of two new members, Suzy Latare from UCM,
Mentoring, Advocacy and Peer Support (MAPS) and Melissa Rice with Elsberry Realty.
Chamber Chair Casey Lund welcomed elected officials to include, Mayor Robin Allen, Pro Tem Bryan Jacobs, and Council Member
Donna DeFrain.
Tara Napoleeone-Clifford from UCM Mentoring, Advocacy, Peer and Support Office announced the winners for the MLK
Community Service Awards.
The MLK Community Service Award winners were Marilyn and Hank Hamann, with The Todd Hamann Memorial Foundation.
The MLK Student Service Award is Daphanie Parks from Chillowee High School.
The speaker was, Mike Flores, a former football defensive end in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins who now resides in
Warrensburg as a permanent resident.
Mike gave a very inspiring speech about how each person can play a small part in keeping Dr. King’s dream alive. Mike went on to talk about diversity and “how you can open your heart and it’s
up to us as he’s waiting on you and waiting on me to make a difference with a goal of allowing freedom to truly ring.”
In closing Casey thanked everyone who attended as well as thanking Cross Eyed Cricket owners Greg Lemasters and Harry
Singer for a delicious lunch.

IT’S A GIRL! The first baby of the New Year at Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC), Matti-son Jane Sexauer, was born at 12:08 am on Fri-day, Jan. 1, 2016, weighing 9 lbs and 8 oz. She is the daughter of Matthew and Dana Sexauer of Whiteman Air Force Base. In honor of WMMC’s first 2016 baby, Sharon Franklin, Auxiliary Board President presented the new parents with a gift basket and floral arrangement on behalf of the WMMC Auxiliary.
Two Sisters Give Birth on the Same Day at WMMC
In an unexpected coincidence, two sisters from Warrensburg gave birth on the same day at West-ern Missouri Medical Center on Monday, Jan. 4. Tricia Novak and Lucy Downing, of Warrensburg, both delivered on Monday, Jan. 4. Novak gave birth to a baby boy, Jacob Lee Novak at 8:13 am and Downing gave birth to a girl, Kinsley Mae Baldwin, later that day at 3:22 pm. “It was exciting! I was told my sister was on her way and they let me go see her before I went in,” says Novak. “I think it’s awesome. We’ll be plan-ning a big party next year!” Ashley Alumbaugh, M.D., delivered for Downing and assisted Traci Johnson, M.D. for Novak. “It was definitely the first time that has ever hap-pened for me,” says Dr. Alumbaugh. “It was an awesome experience to be part of such a special day for their whole family.”
