Commerce is directly connected to Prince
Alexandru Ioan Cuza and to the changes
brought by this double election as ruler of the
two historic provinces. On October 15th, 1864
the Decree 1386 was issued, thus establishing
the first Chambers of Commerce in Bucharest,
Turnu-Severin, Craiova, Turnu- Măgurele,
Giurgiu, Brăila, Galaţi, Ismail, Bârlad, Iaşi,
Bacău, Piatra, Botoşani, Focşani, Ploieşti.
• 2010 marks the 20th anniversary from the
revival of the Romanian Chambers System
and from the regaining of the Chambers'
traditional mission, lost during the communist

The County Chambers are opened in each Romanian county and have the role
to represent the interests of the member companies in the relation with both
the national Chamber and the business environment. The members of the
county are the companies, local professional and entrepreneurial associations,
the guilds and the foundations.

Bi-lateral Chambers – Role and Activity
The bi-lateral chambers of commerce act for the development of the economical
relations of Romania with the countries they were created for, as well as for the
promotion of the economical interests of the business community in their
relation with the public authorities and the internal and international bodies.

CCIR - Services: International Arbitration Court
Under its Regulations on the Organization and Operation of the
Court of International Commercial Arbitration attaches to the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, the Court
provides the following services: arbitration, consultancy on
procedures, studies and research in the field of arbitration, co-
operation with the arbitration commissions within the system of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Romania.
Arbitration for the settlement of international and domestic
commercial disputes, its jurisdiction being based on the
agreement concluded by businesses in their contracts or
addendums thereto ;
Procedures consultancy is provided free of charge by the
specialists of the Arbitration Court at its offices, by phone or post;
International co-operation with similar institutions and
organizations from other countries, for the purpose of
establishing and developing collaboration. Participation in and
organizing of international conferences, meetings, forums and
seminars;
Study and research of the international arbitration legislation and
of the law applicable to the disputes;
Co-operation with the Arbitration Commissions within the system
of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Romania in promoting
arbitration and in case law.

THE ATA CARNET is an international customs document that
permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for
up to one year
The initials “ATA” are an acronym of the French and English
words “Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission.
With their ATA Carnet, salesmen, exhibitors, and other
business travellers may:
make advance customs arrangements at predetermined
cost;
visit several countries;
use their ATA Carnet for several trips during its one-
year validity;
return to their home country without problems or
delays.
