Lightisaformofenergy,whichgivesusthepowerofvision.

Inthischapterwewillstudythephenomenaofreflectionandrefractionusingtheproperty

oflighti.e.straightlinepropagation(Lightwavetravelfromonepointtoanother,alonga

straightline).

Rayoflight:Itisalineinthedirectionofmovementoflight.

Beamoflight:Itisbucnhofraysoflight.

Parallelbeam:Alltheraysareparallel.

ReflectionofLight

Whenthelightisallowedtofallonhighlypolishedsurface,suchasmirror,mostofthelight

getsreflected.

1. Theangleofincidenceisalwaysequaltoangleofreflection.

2. Theincidentray,reflectedrayandthenormaltothereflectingsurfaceatthepointof

incidencelieinthesameplane.
