ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS :
Cathedrals were always built to face the same direction. The main entrance of Santa Maria faces west. The most sacred place in the cathedral, the altar, is on the east side, where the sun rises
In the main facade there were rose windows in bright colors
It have a Latin cross plan
It have point arches in the main door and majority windows.
It have rib vaults. the weight of the vault was support by the pillars inside, and the buttresses outside the cathedral.
The central tympanum on the main facade is highly decorate.
The pinnacles decorate all the towers.
In the side door (puerta de Los apstoles) there are some sculptures of apostles.
It have gargoyles. Gargoyles were sculpt on the outside of cathedrals.
