Bulletin Issue No 8. Term 2, 24 May 2019
Deputy Message - Ms Bennett
NAPLAN Congratulations to all the Year 7 and Year 9 students who successfully completed their NAPLAN last week. The students approached each aspect of the assessment in a thoughtful and considered manner. I would like to thank Mrs Bell for her organisation and all the staff who helped to supervise NAPLAN to ensure it ran smoothly. We look forward to receiving the results later in the year as it will mean we will be able to further address the learning needs of all students based on the data supplied by NAPLAN.
Year 11 2019 Subject Selections Year 10 Students have embarked on their journey for subject selection for Year 11, 2020. They have been provided with all the relevant dates and on Thursday 30 May there will be an information evening at The Len Walsh Hall from 5:30pm to 7:30pm where teachers will be available to discuss their student’s pattern of study for 2020.
Year 11 and Year 12 Year 11 and 12 Students should be seriously involved in completing and submitting tasks associated with each subject. There are a number of students who are receiving warning letters regarding the Non Completion of Assessment Tasks. Parents and Carers are asked to encourage students to heed the warnings in these letters. They need to see their class teacher and complete the work outlined in the letter.
Beef Week Students and Staff from Casino High School have been determinedly preparing for the activities for Beef Week. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week our CAPA ‘Buskers’ were well represented outside ‘Cottage Collection’ and yesterday the Annual Beef Week Challenge Cup v’s St Mary’s Catholic College was contested. Students were also encouraged to participate in the Beef Week Mufti Day today to come dressed in the Australian theme. Casino High School students were also involved in the Fashion Parade and other community events throughout Beef Week.
Athletics Carnival Our half day Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 28 May and we are expecting great participation from all students. We look forward to another great day on Wednesday 29 May, when we will have our full day carnival, complete with dress ups and the march past.
Students Signing Out during School Hours Parents and Carers are reminded to send a note with your child to bring to the Front Office before 9am if you
require them to sign out during school hours. If prior arrangements haven’t been made it can be very difficult to
find students during Break 1 and 2. Your co-operation would be most appreciated.
School Uniform With the weather getting cooler, students are reminded that school jumpers or plain navy blue jumpers are the only jumpers permitted to be worn to school. Jumpers of other colours are not to be worn to school. Long Navy or Black pants are allowed. No denim jeans or tights are to be worn at school. Our Uniform shop is open on: Tuesday 11.00am to 2.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 11.30am.
