The GASTEMP® XR optical pyrom-eter from Diamond Electronics usesa patented wavelength to directlymeasure actual furnace gas tem-perature — including minutechanges in flue gas temperatures.The GASTEMP® XR can be used fromboiler start-up to full-load operation.

The GASTEMP® XR measures theaverage gas temperature within itsfield-of-view, and is independent ofgas and fly ash emissivities, as wellas cold walls. That means you’ll gettremendous accuracy, even withblended coals or switching to otherfuels. Plus the unique wavelength ofthe GASTEMP® XR optical pyrometerprovides the proper measurementdepth across the width of the boiler.

Measurement of gas temperatures isa critical parameter in monitoringfurnace slagging, convection passfouling or pluggage, and NOx emis-sions. The GASTEMP® XR opticalpyrometer allows you to monitorelevated temperatures and detect theearly indications of pluggage forreal-time control of boiler efficiencyand NOx emissions.

The GASTEMP® XR is the onlyoptical pyrometer that accurately

measures eastern, western orblended coals — without re-calibration. And it remains fullyfunctional throughout transition to (orfrom) natural gas and oil firing.

Simple, anywhere installation

The GASTEMP® XR optical pyrom-eter is shipped as a set of sub-as-semblies that are ready for on-sitefinal assembly and start-up. It’s eas-ily installed at any location from thefurnace exit through the convectionpass, including standard furnaceobservation ports or other wall pen-etrations.

Dual-use device

Because the GASTEMP® XR opticalpyrometer is so reliable, durable andportable, it can be used as a fielddiagnostic tool or as a permanentinstallation. For diagnostics, use it asa stand-alone instrument or with dataacquisition equipment to recorddata. Begin immediate data collec-tion usually within 15 to 30 minutesof installation. Or, use it as apermanent installation (alone or in-terfaced with your control system) forautomatic monitoring and control.
