Visitor ParkingWelcome to ODU! The following parking options are available to campus visitors: -- Meters - $1/hour. Look for space #, then pay at pay-station. Visitor Lot 7 & designated lower floors of most garages. -- Daily Pass - $7/day. Available in TPS office M-F (see hours). -- Validation Code – Code provided by some campus hosts. Park in meter space, look for space # and then enter code at pay-station
Event Parking If you are attending a university event, please follow the Visitor Parking guide above.If you are hosting a campus event, please contact the TPS Special Events staff with your event details ahead of time in order to provide the best parking arrangement for your event. Accessible (ADA) ParkingAccessible parking spaces are located in every garage and lot across campus. State-issued accessible parking placards must be accompanied by an ODU permit or meter payment.
Vendor/Contractor ParkingAll contractors or vendors working on campus must display a parking permit. Permits are sold for $20/month in the TPS office.
Motorcycle & Scooter ParkingTwo-wheeled motor vehicles require a permit and must be parked in the designated striped paint areas in the garages and parking lots. Motorized scooters may not be parked at a bicycle rack.
Student ParkingParking permits are sold online at odu.edu/parking or in the office. Permits are valid for each semester or annually (Fall + Spring). See our website for current prices. Peninsula & Tri-Cities Higher Ed Centers do not require parking permits. • Commuter Permit - Also valid in Perimeter Permit areas. • Perimeter Permit - Lower cost option in periphery lots. • Evening Permit – Valid in non-reserve areas after 3:45pm • Resident Permit – Quad, Village or Resident types. Freshman Residents are not allowed to bring a car to campus (see our website for more information). • VBHEC Permit – Virginia Beach Higher Education Center. Not valid on the Norfolk campus. Commuter, Perimeter, Evening and Resident passes may park in all non-reserve areas after 3:45pm.
Faculty/Staff ParkingPermits are valid one year: October 1st - September 30th. • Faculty/Staff Permit – Prices based on salary group. • Carpool Permit – Priority spaces reserved until 2pm & shared cost. Also valid in regular Faculty/Staff locations. • Reserve 7am-7pm Permit – Guaranteed space all day. • Reserve 24/7 Permit – Guaranteed space all year.
Citations & AppealsCitations will be issued for violations of parking regulations (see regulations online at odu.edu/parking). • Appeals Process – Appeal online at odu.edu/parking within 7 business days of citation issue. • Re-Appeals Process – If the first appeal is denied, payment is required before second appeal is reviewed by a committee. • Boot & Towing – Contact our office during business hours.

Zipcars 5 Zipcars are hosted on campus and may be reserved by any ODU student, faculty or staff member with a Zipcar account at any time. 3 cars are located in Lot 23 (Elkhorn Ave), and 2 cars are located in Lot 32 (Whitehurst). Cars must be returned to the parking lot they were picked up from.1. Create account online at zipcar.com/odu with ODU email2. Zipcar approves membership and mails Zipcar card 3. Reserve cars online at any time 4. Hold card to windshield to open carRates average around $6-10/hour or $60-90/day. 180 mile limit.
NuRideHampton Roads Transit hosts an online commuter solutions platform where you can self-report and track your commute costs, as well as set up carpools, vanpools and ride-sharing opportunities. Users earn points towards discounts to local establishments. Register for free at nuride.com/odu.
Bicycles Bicycles MUST be registered with ODU Public Safety. Bicycles may be rented per week or per semester from BikeODU through the Outdoor Adventure Program. Bicycles may be parked ONLY at bicycle racks. Improperly parked and abandoned bicycles will be collected and available for reclaim within 120 days.
Walking on Campus ODU is very walkable. The campus is flat with many tree lined paths. East to West ends of campus are approximately a 15 min. walk apart. Please cross perimeter streets at rapid flashing beacon crosswalks where available. To activate the flashing lights, pedestrians must STOP before entering the crosswalk.
Amtrak & Greyhound The Norfolk Amtrak Station is located at Waterside Park near downtown Norfolk, and is accessible from the HRT light rail line. The Greyhound Bus Station is located on Brambleton Ave in downtown Norfolk.
