• Input power control, distribution, and conditioning • Master computer controlling all peripheral
devices • National Instruments High Module Count PXI
chassis with base modules installed: • PCI Express Link Communication • Multifunction DAQ • 7 1/2 digit DMM • Signal Multiplexer • General Purpose I/O • SPST switches
• Sorenson DCS-40-30 providing DC power for the LRU
• California Instruments 750 iX providing AC power for the LRU
• Fixed +5, +15, -15, +28 Vdc supplies • Virginia Panel Corporation (VPC) VP 90 series
vertical frame, single tier • Expansion slots for PXI modules in the NI PXI
chassis • Expansion 19” width rack space for generators,
analyzers, etc. • Standalone equipment rack for the storage of
unused ITAs, cables, and accessories. The Virginia Panel Corporation VPC Vertical Frame accepts different Interface Test Adapters (ITAs) which are specific to the unit or system being tested. An ITA contains specialized interface circuitry and cable termination for the Unit Under Test (UUT). The countertop work space height is adjustable from approximately 33” (84 cm) to 36” (99 cm) and the work surface is non-conductive formica. The user may select the degree of static dissipation by use of an ESD matt that is either conductive or static dissipative.
THE CA-5000S ATE
• The test solution for the manual, computer assisted or fully automatic testing of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
• Modular instrumentation system based upon open industry-standard
PXI and LXI architectures. • Designed for long life and easy maintainability, the CA-5000S can be
configured for a variety of systems.

PXI – PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation
• Introduced by National Instruments in 1997.
• Modular instrumentation system based on the open industry standard.
• Significant performance improvement over PCI.
• Modules available for signal and waveform generation from DC to the GHz region, spectral analysis, switching, etc.
LXI – LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation
• Introduced by Agilent (formerly Hewlett Packard) to provide a more cost-effective way to create test systems.
• Utilizes Ethernet standards IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 1588 for configuration, defaults, and synchronization.
• LXI Consortium consists of Agilent and over 40 global test and measurement companies.
