During the industrial training at AYM Bistari I have been assigned for one project named as
Perak Halal Directory. Im lucky that the entire project assigned is multimedia-based project.
The project consists of two sub-projects that will be use as a medium of promoting the centre
which are:
Product design
Web Development
The aims of the project are as follows:
To assist and promote all manufacturer and developer of Halal product.
As list or guide to all that have own the Halal Certificate from Jabatan Agama Islam
Perak.
They are a number of requirements for each project need to follow. The requirement needed as:

II.II SOFTWARE USED
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is use to fix a photo, cropping product, and create its background.
Basically, all design were created in photoshop (see figure 1.0). Its use RGB color format.
There are 3 version of photoshop that I has use
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 :
o Was use during the first two week. the most basic photoshop in photo design,
lighter and easy to use, but has a minimum function.

Adobe Photoshop Element 4.0
o This is special photoshop version created for photographer. Its has quick smart
photo repair function and auto red-eyes fix. Was use to fix photos and scanning
product.
Adobe Photoshop CS2
o This is an upgraded 7.0 photoshop version. Its has the same photoshop 7.0
interface but with more added effect function. This was the main graphic
application was use to create a design.

Adobe Illustrator was use to create a listing and printing template. It use a CYMK color
format its also use to create the final design of the directory and publication.
Adobe Illustrator CS2
o This is an upgraded illustrator CS version. Any RGB product image from the
adobe photoshop will be converted into the CYMK color format for printing.

II.IV PLANNING/ STRATEGY
Before creating an artwork, I plan and do some research to get some information about the
product. Then I analyze the product and begin to create a several rough ideas of the product
placement and background design. My research source are collected from the internet, crusine
magazines, Cook book, tourism flyers and any related material that can be associated with the
product.
II.V BUDGET
Since the concept and any material for work are provided by the company, the budget for this
project is minimal and most of the budget goes to the marketing department.

II.VI ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEAM MEMBER
The Company has been appointed as project consultant to publish the second edition of Perak
Halal Directory as The First Edition was also given to AYM Bistari. My main duty during this
industrial training is to be responsible in designing advertisement to be published on classified
listing column of the directory. The size varies as below:
50mm x 35mm (Rm 150.00) Color
50mm x 50mm (Rm 200.00) Color
70mm x 65mm (Rm 250.00) Color
For the second edition, any purchases of advertisement under Quarter, Half and Full Page size
will also receives listing advertisement. Their sizes are varies as below:
Quarter page : 50mm x 50mm
Half & Full page : 70mm x 65mm
As a team, were encourage to work independently. However, we can still help each others when
needed and always maintain a good communicate with client or team members. My roles also to
insist the others members when needed or instructed.

The classified listing advertisement contain a list of halal product manufacturer profile such as
their company name, address, halal serial numbers, contact numbers and a short description of
their product, ( see figure 1.1.)
Any Halal Certificate holders that want to advertise their product needs to fill the advertisement
order form (see pg. 17). The information that they give will be us in the classified listing column.

II.VIII PROCESS & PROCEDURES
The procedures and workflow of the Perak Halal Directory project focusing on the important
stuff where it help out in terms of reference as each step needs documentations and data keeping.
For the product design, The Hanaffin and Peck model design was used. (see figure 1.4) for the
whole process.
In the Hanaffin and Peck model, each phase has its own evaluation before proceding to next
phase.There are 3 process or phase need to be done before publishing the Perak Halal Directory.
1. Analysis
o After receving task, the information from the order form will be collected and
store in database/ notepad.
o If the company give or include a softcopy of their product in the order form, it
will be store in source_file
o For a hardcopy, it will be scan first and then fix in photoshop. Then it will be
store in source_files.

o Then all the source files will be analize and beginning to create a rought ideas that
associated with the product.
2. Design
o Beginning to searching or collecting ang source picture that can be associated
with the ideas and product. Any medium can be use like internet, magazines,
flyers and many more.
o Then the product will be crop, trim and save in work_file. Then any related
material that can be associate with the product will be design as the background of
the product.
o All this design is created in adobe photoshop, at less 2 sample will be created
before it will be print and evaluated.
o This sample is printed in adobe illustrator, where the sample will be put in the
draf printing template.
3. Devenlopment
o After the product been evaluated, it will be printed again with its listing in adobe
illustrator. Then it will be evaluated again before it been submitted to their
respective company for their evaluation.
o If the design is accepted, then it will be published in Perak Halal Directory. But if
not, it will be repaired or redesign again untill it meets the client choice.
o Then it will be publish on the Perak Halal website. (http://www.perakhalal.com).
