Horne Memorial UMC is looking for a part-time,
Spirit-led Worship Leader for its 9:45am Sunday
Morning Contemporary Worship Service. The
worship leader will prayerfully work with the pastor
to choose music for worship and help shape the
service. This person will be expected to lead
rehearsals for the praise band on Thursday nights,
lead the worship music on Sunday mornings, help
recruit musicians and vocalists, and be willing to
grow with our church as we consider adding a
second contemporary service. There may be other
opportunities to support the church in line with the
worship leader’s gifts, abilities, and calling.

prevent heart attacks.

Join us for a special service hosted by Horne
Memorial’s Praise Dance Ministry. This service will
include, communion, a video message,
congregational song, and a celebration of Praise
Dance Arts. We hope you will save the date!
2019 PROJECT AGAPE
CHRISTMAS BOXES
Take part in this special ministry to serve children!
Donations are due by Sunday, September 29.
The boxes are shipped and distributed to children in
Armenia, offering hope and the love of Christ in this
battered country.
Pick up your packing list on the table
outside the church office or on our website and
drop your donations off under the table.
You may donate individual items, a plastic box filled
with check list items, and/or monetary donations.
Write checks to NC Conference with “Agape
Christmas Boxes” in the memo. Money can be put
in the boxes, in the offering plate or in the locked
church box across from the church office.
Plastic boxes (6qt) must be used, they will not
accept cardboard boxes.
THE CURE4SURE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
will meet at Anthony's in the Wal-Mart Shopping
Center on Hwy 70 West in Clayton. They will meet
at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 1. In order to

A UNITED MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND

bedroom luxury home this year in Corolla, NC. For
anyone who prefers less rustic accommodations
than available at Portsmouth Island, this may be the

Join us for a United Methodist Men sponsored
event for Pork BBQ plates, with slaw, potatoes, roll
and the dessert is provided by the United Methodist
Women. All of this for just $8.50/plate. For your
convenience you may eat in or take out. Help us by
purchasing your tickets in advance from the church
office or UMM so we will have a better idea of
how many plates we should prepare. If you need

December Toy Give Away.

zone closet. We are not accepting clothes but, we
are accepting adult and children’s

This is a youth led mission project!
GRIEFSHARE ON THURSDAYS

GriefShare is a grief recovery support program
where grieving people find healing and hope.
Participants meet weekly for a video seminar with
helpful information on grief-related topics from
leading experts in the field, followed by guided
group discussion. GriefShare is open to all in our
church family and community. If you or someone
you know could benefit from warm & caring
support after the loss of a spouse, child, family
member, or friend, there are 3 easy ways to register:

“SALT & LIGHT” COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
NEXT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
Be a part of “salting & lighting” our community as we scatter to spread the love of Christ in hands-on projects
across our area on Sunday, September 29 from 1pm – 4pm. All projects are family-friendly and appropriate for
children, youth & adults. Most projects require 1 hour or less to complete. There are projects at sites around
Clayton, as well as a few projects that will be completed here at the church

PROJECTS INCLUDE:
• Clayton River Walk, Sam's Branch Greenway, and Local Parks: trash pickup and minor brush/limb pickup
• CAM (Clayton Area Ministries): Help stock shelves, prepare food bags, etc.
• Senior Care Facilities: Visit with residents, play games, clean eyeglasses, and/or host nail salon for ladies
• "Washed With Love": We provide quarters and pay for the clothes washing & drying of all those who
come in to do laundry at a local laundry mat. Also give away gently used books to children.
• "Birthday Bags": At church - Prepare bags with birthday supplies for children that live in the Harbor House
Domestic Violence Shelter
• "First Responder Appreciation": At church - Pack gift bags of special treats for the Clayton Police
Department and 2 Fire Department Stations - also need help to deliver the bags. Children will have a
table to make cards for the policemen and first responders.
• "Project Agape" Boxes: At church - Help sort & pack gift boxes that are being shipped to under-resourced
children & families in Armenia
