“…Created in 2005 by UADE and Duke University´s Fuqua School of
Business administrators, the SMLA program has gradually improved its
quality, depth, and global reach. Not only has this program become the
most popular of all of our study abroad opportunities for full-time MBAs,
it has also attracted other high-caliber students. Since 2006, we have
sent close to eighty MBA students to UADE´s SMLA. We are deeply
indebted to UADE for having exceeded the needs of our students and
highly recommend their SMLA to any globally-minded business school
students…”

UADE Business School, an academic unit at the Universidad Argentina de la
Empresa (UADE), opened its doors in 2003. Its mission is to train and shape the most
effective and accountable senior managers in Argentina. The School receives annually
more than 300 graduate students distributed along different programs, and is
distinguished by its academic rigor, practical relevance and state-of-the-art facilities.
Managing Latin America is a full-quarter seminar, designed to help participants to
gain and deepen understanding on the Latin American region. Courses focus primarily
on business practices in Latin America, with some emphasis in the Argentine past and
current situation. The program, delivered fully in English, runs from January 16th to
March 2th, 2012. Participants can obtain academic credits for the equivalence of three
(3) courses. By the end of the program students are required to work on the valuation
of a regional company.
Buenos Aires is the most important, attractive and dynamic city of Argentina, and a
key city in the region. Its blend of cultural activity, historical buildings and tourism
presence gives it a flavor of uniqueness in South America. The Latino charm is
accompanied by an exquisite gastronomic offering, and accompanied by a privileged
weather, especially during summer.

Quoter from past students
Mike Thompson, Fuqua Student
“…It was a great opportunity to apply what I have learned in Fuqua courses in Finance, Marketing
and Strategy in the emerging Markets environment. I recognize how much diversity, risk and
opportunity there is in L.A. Instead of viewing it as one large emerging Market, I really see many
different Markets with different political and economic drivers. All of the professors were excellent. I
feel they introduce a good mix of academic and practitioner views…”
Arthur Sevilla, Fuqua Student
“…I have learned about cultural differences within South America. I have learned about the
difficulty in valuing business enterprises. My understanding of L.A. has drastically improved through
the broad and comprehensive learning coming out of this program…”
Uyo Okebie Eichelberg, Fuqua Student
“…The quality of the classes was immaculate, and yes, they showed international teaching
standards. I think all the professors contributed and added value in each of their own ways.
Excellent program. Topics were very relevant and add value to my American approach and
perspective to business…”
Katherine Knipp, Fuqua Student
“…Most important lessons learned were for those that were either misconceptions of L.A. from the
U.S. or how things must managed differently here. The focus, on either opening a business in L.A.
or expanding/operating your current organization, was very beneficial. The program provided a
very balanced approach of many topics in business -an excellent well–sounded education-…”
Manu Chhabra, Fuqua Student
“…I know much more about business, political and economic environment in Latin America. I am
very aware of the various problems in this country and more aware of future investment
opportunities…”
Jeff Alleva, Fuqua Student
“…It is much more difficult to do business here than I every expected. However, doing business
here is worthwhile on many levels…”
www.uade.edu.ar/bs 10 Buenos Aires, Argentina
Fabian Bonino, Fuqua Student
"…Even though I have done all my professional experience within the Latin America region while
maintaining close ties with the U.S., I found that the contents of this program helped me to have a
better understanding of the reality surrounding me. The gap between the knowledge acquired at
school and the reality I have to deal with on a day-to-day basis has narrowed significantly thanks to
this program…"
