FSTUDY MEDICINE AT SYDNEY
Sydney Medical Program is a four-year graduate entry course with threeprimary aims for graduates: excellent clinical sills and preparednessfor practice; experience in research; and experience and awarenessof health in an international setting. Years 1 & 2 are spent on the mainuniersity campus at Camperdown, with one day each wee spent inclinical schools. For years 3 & 4, students are based in their clinicalschool. Clinical learning occurs at multiple widely-dispersed siteshospitals and community, metropolitan, urban and rural. The programis accredited by the Australian Medical Council.

The Bachelor o Commerce and Bachelor o Medicine and
Bachelor o Surgery is a combined degree program sequenced
so that successul students proceed rst through the
Bachelor o Commerce degree during which they will be
required to complete science units o study and then on to
the degrees o Bachelor o Medicine and Bachelor o Surgery.
BACHELOR OF ECONOMICS/MBBS
The Bachelor o Economics and Bachelor o Medicine and
Bachelor o Surgery is a unique program which will proide
you with the opportunity to pursue studies in areas that are o
particular releance to the management and conduct o business,
in addition to gaining a proessional qualication in medicine.
The skills you will acquire through the Bachelor o Economics will
benet a number o careers in the medical proession. For example,
doctors in priate practice need to understand the undamentals
o business in order to establish and maintain a thriing practice.
BACHELOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE/MBBS
The combined Bachelor o Medical Science and Bachelor o
Medicine and Bachelor o Surgery leads to registration as a
general medical practitioner. The course combines the three-
year undergraduate Bachelor o Medical Science course
with the Uniersitys prestigious our-year graduate medical
program. The combination o science and medicine subjects
oers you the opportunity to deelop a strong background in
the sciences, with some exibility or you to study units rom
other aculties.
In your rst three years undertaking the Bachelor o Medical
Science, you will study the basic sciences as well as clinical
sciences. The medical curriculum o the MBBS component
o this degree emphasises practical deliery with much o
the program using problem-based learning with contextually
releant medical issues as the oundation o the course.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE ADvANCED/MBBS
The combined Bachelor o Science (Adanced) and Bachelor o
Medicine and Bachelor o Surgery leads to registration as a general
medical practitioner. It combines the three-year undergraduate
Bachelor o Science (Adanced) course with the Uniersitysprestigious our-year graduate medical program.
The combination o science and medicine subjects oers you
the opportunity to deelop a strong background in the sciences,

BACHELOR OF MUSIC STUDIES/MBBS
The Bachelor o Music Studies unctions as a liberal studies
pathway into the MBBS. You will select a principal study at
the Sydney Conseratorium o Music rom the program in
music studies. You will also complete core music units o study
in music skills, music history and analysis, and perormance.
The degree is completed oer six semesters with a credit
aerage or aboe prior to your commencement in the
Bachelor o Medicine and Bachelor o Surgery. During this
time, you will also complete one preparatory unit o study
in medicine and three units o study in biology, physics and
chemistry rom the program oered by the Faculty o Science.
Thereater, you will study or the degree o Bachelor o
Medicine and Bachelor o Surgery oer our years.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 2014 ADMISSIONENTRY FROM SCHOOL INTO COMBINEDMEDICAL DEGREES
Students are eligible to apply or the Combined Medicine
Degree Programs at the rst opportunity ater graduating
high school, regardless o when their results are aailable.
Special admission pathways are open to Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander applicants. The required ATAR is expected to be
95 or higher or 2014 entry.
DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
APPLICANTS MUST HAvE:
A ery high ATAR. For students commencing in 2014,
the ATAR is expected to be 99.95 or all courses except
Bachelor o Music Studies/MBBS, which is expected to be
99.50. Students rom outside NSW are conerted to ATAR
equialent scores. International students require an ATAR o
99.50 or international equialent.
Potential students must also hae satisactory perormance
in an interiew.
Music/MBBS applicants must also undertake an audition.

GRADUATE MEDICAL PROGRAM: MBBSTHIS IS THE MAIN ENTRY PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS STUDYING MEDICINE AT THE UNIvERSITY OF SYDNEY. MOST
STUDENTS OF SYDNEY MEDICAL SCHOOL APPLY AND ENTER THE PROGRAM AS GRADUATES. STUDENTS MAYAPPLY IN THE FINAL YEAR OF THEIR UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 2014 ADMISSIONDOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
APPLICANTS MUST HAvE:
A Bachelors degree with a minimum credit aerage.
Students can apply in the nal year o their undergraduate
degree but must meet the required credit aerage at the
time o application and hae met the requirements o their
degree beore 1 January 2014.
Domestic students must hae achieed competitie
perormance in the Graduate Australian Medical School
Admissions Test (GAMSAT) including a minimum o 50 in each
section. International students may submit GAMSAT or MCAT
results (although there are special requirements or US citizens).
Perorm satisactorily in an interiew. International students
may be interiewed by ideo link. The interiew is scored.
To determine a student ranking or entry, GAMSAT scores (or
or international students, their conerted MCAT score) are
combined with their interiew score.
For 2013 entry, the minimum GAMSAT score or domestic
students in the general entry pathway was 67. The minimum
GAMSAT score or students applying under the rural
pathway was 58.
Domestic students applying under the rural origin specialentry scheme must meet the goernment determined
denition, which is someone who has resided in an Australian
Standard Geographical Classication - Remoteness Area
(ASGC-RA 2 to 5) or at least e years (consecutie or
cumulatie) rom commencement o primary school, that
is commencement o school at about the age o e years.
Students will be required to submit proo that they qual iy
or the scheme at the time o application.

OTHER IMPORTANTINFORMATIONFEES: DOMESTIC STUDENTS
I you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident,
or a New Zealand citizen, you wil l be considered a
domestic student and eligible or a Commonwealth-
supported place at uniersity. This means the
Australian goernment will make a contribution
towards your ees. As a Commonwealth-supported
student, you will be required to make a contribution
towards the cost o your education. In 2013, the
student contribution or the Sydney Medical Program
is $9,792 per annum. The contribution rises each year

FEES: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
I you are not an Australian citizen or permanent
resident, or a New Zealand citizen, you will be
considered an international student and only accepted
into the Uniersity on a ull-ee paying basis. In2013, the ee is $62,880 per year plus our years
o mandatory Oerseas Student Health Coer. The
Uniersitys tuition ees are reiewed annually and may
ary during your period o study.
INTERNSHIPS
Sydney Medical Program graduates are eligible or
registration by medical boards in all Australian states
and territories and in New Zealand, on satisactory
completion o an internship with an approed hospital.
In Australia, internships are managed by state health
