April Happenings Brighton Fire was honored to join fire and police officials from around the state at the Colorado State Capitol April 5 for First Responders Appreciation Day! Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on April 11 Brighton Fire was dispatched to an overturned cement truck at 136th & Brighton Rd. The truck was filled with cement and 75 gallons of diesel. The driver was not injured. 136th remained closed throughout the morning. In April firefighters went through Rescue Task Force training. The training helps prepare firefighters for an active shooter event. Crews practiced disarming weapons and using bullet proof vests. They also learned how to most effectively assess and treat shooting victims. We'd like to thank the Brighton Police Department for taking part in this collaborative training. Brighton Fire participated in the 2nd Annual Taste of Adams County on April 21. Firefighters served their firehouse chili. The event is put on by the Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce. On April 27, Brighton Fire participated in Take Your Kid to Work Day at the Adams County Government Center. Firefighters gave firetruck tours and answered questions about what it’s like to be a firefighter. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Government officials and Anythink Brighton were also at the event.
