About Kamalasagar•Kamalasagar is a small village of the Bishalgarh Sub Division , located on the International Border.•It is also famous for Kasba Kalibari , a tourist place of Tripura •The nearest LCS from this village is about 30 km away at Amtali . •The Comilla – Sylhet road is just 500 mtrs away .•Before border fencing and during undivided India, agricultural produce of this area including fruits , like pineapple, jackfruit etc. used to move to Comilla and Sylhet at higher prices. •Similarly during earlier times local people used to get supply of fish, cloths from Comilla at reasonable price .•In fact, the main objective border trade was to sell surplus from each side to another . •After partition and fencing all those activities were stopped .
•In order to revive the trade the concept of Border Haat came up. •The decision was taken at the highest level during visit of Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina , PM of Bangladesh to India during January , 2010 •As per joint Communiqué , issued on this occasion , it was agreed to establish Border Haats on selected areas . •In sequel of that , Border Haat at Kamalasagar has been established in pursuance of Article 1 of the MOU signed between the GOI and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
