SACRED RELICS OF THE SAINTS: TREASURES OF THE CHURCH
Blessed Sacrament Parish presents a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics on Wednesday, January 23, at 7:00 p.m. Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will be here with a very special Vatican collection of over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. In the Church’s history many miracles and healings have been worked in the presence of relics, and many have been healed through this ministry. Please do not miss this opportunity. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession. The exposition of the sacred relics will be preceded by Mass at 5:30 p.m.
Bishop Taylor is leading a Eucharistic Procession for Life and celebrating the Mass for Life prior to the annual March for Life in Little Rock, January 20th. The teen youth of our parish will be attending these events as part of the Respect Life Weekend. We would like to show the youth how important this is to all of us by participating in the events on the 20th. Adults in Blessed Sacrament parish are encouraged to attend! The Eucharistic procession starts at 10 a.m. in front of the Doubletree Hotel. Mass is at noon at the Robinson Center Performance Hall. For more information, please call Donna Fincher at 930-6457 or Martha Bartels at 219-9004. We would like to meet and walk as a group with our youth at this event. Hope you can attend!
