theIHREmergencyCommitteeonYellowFever.ShewastheChairoftheWHOSAGECommitteeontheUseofVaccinesinHumanitarianEmergenciesandisnowtheCo-ChairoftheWHOSAGECommitteeonEbolavaccinesaswellaschairingtheWHO’sMaternalInfluenzaImmunisationAdvisoryReviewCommittee. SheisamemberoftheWHOSAGECommitteeevaluatingprogresstowardstheDecadeofVaccines,andamemberoftheWHOSAGEMeaslesandRubellaWorkingGroup.ProfessorReesisamemberoftheGaviBoardandtheGaviProgrammeandPolicyCommittee,andchairstheGatesFoundation’sCommitteeonSingleDoseHPVvaccines. ProfessorReeshaswonmanyinternationalandnationalawardsforhercontributiontoglobalhealthandtoscience,specificallybeingmadeanOfficeroftheBritishEmpire(OBE)in2001byQueenElizabethII.In2016,shewasawardedtheSouthAfricanNationalOrderoftheBaobabforhercontributiontomedicineandtomedicalresearch.

HehasplayedapivotalroleinnationalpreparednessandmanagementofSARS,pH1N1,avianinfluenza,anderadicationofPolio,eliminationofMeasles,Rubella,maternalandneonataltetanus,LeprosyandcontrolofTB,andothervaccinepreventablediseases.Underhisleadership,Omanwascertifiedasdracunculiasisandpoliofree.DrAlAwaidywaspreviouslyamemberoftheReviewCommitteeontheRoleoftheInternationalHealthRegulations(2005)intheEbolaOutbreakandResponse(2015). Dr.WangcoordinatedthelargestclinicaltrialsofH1N1vaccinesandrecommendedthedoesandschedule.HejoinedtheresponsetotheEbolaoutbreakinWestAfrica,andhasactivelyinvolvedintheglobalhealth.Dr.WangwaspreviouslyamemberoftheIHRReviewCommitteeontheFunctioningoftheInternationalHealthRegulations(2005)andonPandemicInfluenzaA(H1N1).
