Plan for setting-up question papers for Internal Assessment I (Even 2014-15).
Points Discussed:
(1) Minute No. 1: Formulation of IA Committee Members
The following members were selected for IA Committee for the Even Semester:

(2) Minute No. 2: Timing for I Internal Assessment Test - Even Semester (2014 – 15)
Common timing is to be followed for all semesters and the test will commence by
exactly 8.30 AM. For UG the timings will be from 8.30 AM to 10.00 AM. For PG /
Drawing Subjects the time can be extended accordingly. From 10.30 AM the regular
classes will schedule as per Time Table. The last hour (3.10 to 4.00 PM) class can be left
free.
(3) Minute No. 3: Time Table
Time Table should be prepared and circulated to the students / affixed in the notice
board on 26th Feb’ 2015.

(4) Minute No. 4: Seating Arrangement & Invigilation Duty
Seating arrangement & Invigilation Duty should be taken care by the Department IA
Coordinators. The following Departments are combined for convenience:
• CSE + I Year Chemistry Cycle
• ECE + I Year Physics Cycle
• AE + ML
• MBA + CV
• MCA + TE & ISE
Rooms should be identified and seating arrangement should be prepared, kept ready and
displayed in front of the rooms.
(5) Minute No. 5: Attendance Sheet
Attendance sheet should be prepared room wise. Absentees should be marked by RED
pen both in the Attendance Sheet and Blue Book.
The absentees are not allowed for the next test. This should be informed to the students.
Prior information has already been circulated to the Departments.

(6) Minute No. 6: Question Bank
As already informed through Email, all the Departments should submit the Question
Bank for all the subjects (Semester wise) to HOD-BT (hod_biotech@[email protected])
and copy to Vice Principal Madam ([email protected]) on or before 25th Feb’
2015 – IA Coordinators should take forward this activity by working along with faculty
members and HOD.
UG - 6 questions / unit & 18 questions for 3 units
PG - 6 questions / unit & 12 questions for 2 units
I Year - 6 questions / module & 12 questions for 2 modules
Drawing / CAED / Specialized subjects – As per syllabus
IA coordinators to make sure with the help of senior faculties and HOD that the
Question Bank Questions selected for are uniform in terms of answer contents and
marks distribution. They have to collectively take responsibility for maintaining high
standards in the Question Bank.
IA Question Bank Format is attached. The new format should be used.
Hardcopy of Total Xeroxing Requirements List of Question Papers with subject
code/unit details to be submitted with respective Faculty Signatures, HOD Signature by 25th Feb’ 2015.

(7) Minute No. 7: Keys to Answers
Keys to Answers should be prepared for the final question paper and maintained in the
IA File for TQM Verification.
(8) Minute No. 8: Distribution of Question Papers
IA coordinators should assemble in the Exam Hall by 8.00 AM to collect the
Department Question Papers from Exam Section and segregate in the same room. They
can leave the room only 10 min prior (Siren) to commencement of Exams. Question
paper will be delivered to the hall by IA coordinator. Alternative arrangement should be
done for Blue Book / attendance sheet distribution to the invigilators.
(9) Minute No. 9: General Instructions
IA Coordinators should monitor the following during IA Test:
• Students to check the Board outside the exam hall for seating arrangement
• Students should keep their bags etc. outside the exam hall. Electronic gadgets,
calculation cover, chits, pouches are not allowed inside the hall
• No students to be allowed without proper dress code and ID card (ID card to be
displayed).
• Students should enter exam hall 10 minutes before the commencement of test.
• The duration for B.E is one and half hour and for M.Tech is two hours.
• No student is allowed inside the exam hall after 10 minutes from the
commencement of test.
• No student is allowed to leave the exam hall before one hour from
commencement of test.
• Attendance sheet has to be signed by students with in 10 mins from the
commencement of test so that no students can be allowed after 10 mins. Please
mark absentees in red ink only.
• Invigilators to check whether the student has filled the cover page of blue book.
i.e., Sl. No., Name, USN, semester and section, Subject, Subject code, date,
signature, academic year (2014-15), then only sign on the cover sheet. (Sl No to
be mentioned in attendance sheet)
(10) Minute No.10: Collection of Blue Books
On completion of the IA exam, the invigilators should arrange the blue books according
to Serial no. and submit the same to IA coordinator in Exam Hall.
(11) Minute No. 11: Valuation of Blue Books
Valuation will start from the day of commencement of IA Test and will be closed after
two days of the last test.
Faculties should fill / sign the ‘Subject Faculty Sheet’ - Start Date / End Date. After the
valuation, they can take back the respective Blue Books to their Departments.

(12) Minute No. 12: Marks Entry
Marks entry should be done both in the hard and soft copy kept in the desktop of computer in
Exam Cell.

(13) Minute No. 13: Submission of IA related formats
All IA related formats (mentioned above) should be submitted to HOD_BT in both soft

INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS
• Students to check the Board outside the exam hall for seating arrangement.
• Students should be seated as per the seating arrangement.
• Students should keep their bags etc. outside the exam hall. Electronic gadgets, calculation cover, chits, pouches are not allowed inside the hall
• No students to be allowed without proper dress code and ID card (ID card to be displayed).
• Students should enter exam hall well before the commencement of test.
• The duration for B.E is one and half-hour and for M.Tech is two hours. The time duration for drawing subjects will be extended accordingly.
• No student is allowed inside the exam hall after 10 minutes from the commencement of test.
• No student is allowed to leave the exam hall before one hour from commencement of test.

Title of the Practice: The Tomorrow’s Engineers Club
With the idea of making MVJCE as a “Hub of Innovation”, the college organized a three
day intensive technical workshop on “Tomorrow's Engineers” from 11th to 13th March 2016.
About 45 students and 15 faculties of MVJ College of Engineering participated in the
workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by Honourable Chief guest Dr.KrishnaswamyKasturirangan,
chief of Indian space research organization (ISRO) between 1994 to 2003. He is a recipient of
top civilian awards of India like Padma Shri (1982), Padma Bhushan (1992) and Padma
Vibhushan (2000).
The objective of organizing the event was to inculcate lot of positive thoughts and explore
current opportunities. Padma BhushanDr. B. N. Suresh, the president of Indian National
Academy of Engineering and Chairman of Governing Council of MVJCE, and Dr. Kota
Harinarayana, popularly known as Father of India's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), and Dr. K
Sudhakar, Professor, Aerospace Engineering, IIT Bombay were the experts who conducted the
workshop.
Delivering the inaugural address Dr.KrishnaswamyKasturirangan, profusely appreciated the
college authorities for organizing this programme and selecting an important topic to motivate
our young students. He recalled his academic initiatives and work experience while working
with Dr.Vikram Sarabhai, the leader of Indian Space programmes which provided crisp
motivation to our student engineers to take high end challenges in the scientific and technical
arena. He advised budding engineers to design high-tech solutions in a low cost environment to
meet Indian and global challenges.
Report on Tomorrows Engineers club
The Tomorrows Engineers club conducted the second workshop on “The Problem solves skills
–An innovative and creative approach” from 18/August/16 to 20/August/2016. The Problems
that were selected in the workshop for implementation were Bio-digester for the MVJCE
campus, the design of Piston to avoid blockages in drainages and Bio-Leachates as Bio
fertilizers.
Report on the projects of Tomorrows Engineers club
The Bio-digester: The amount of wet and dry waste produced in the campus is approximately
estimated, since the wet waste is not predictable as we do not get constant amount of waste,
estimating the amount of energy produced is still under study. Depending upon the energy
required and the amount of waste produced, the plant will be set up and it may take another 2
months for setting up of the bio digester plant.
The piston design:The piston for the removal of drainage blockages is in the design stage, the
CAD design of the project is ready and the implementation of it will take another 2 months.
Bio-Leachates as Bio fertilizers-This is converting the dry waste into bio fertilizers, mainly the
waste of bio digester will be used to create the bio fertilizers. Once the bio-digester plant is
ready the bio fertilizers also can be made from the waste of bio digester.

The next workshop on“Societal concerns and contribution to solve societal problems” has been
planned from 16/March/2017 to 18/March/2017 .The open ended problems that has been chosen
for the workshop are
1. Recycling and conservation
2. Life style tracking system (Health Care)
3. Loss of green cover-Urbanization
4. Agriculture-build database for farmer’s problems and work on appropriate policies
5. Education-Tele-education for rural school children
6. Cloud hacking /cyber bullying/cyber crime
• Annual Meet
In the month of August 2017 there is a plan to organize annual meet of Tomorrows Engineers
club ,for which the student members of MVJCE and as well as students from other colleges
will be invited to participate in the workshop. The projects developed under the club will be
shown as live examples and the team of professors who were responsible for initiating the club
will be reviewing the progress of the activities of the club in that event.

The “Tomorrows Engineers” Club organised a three day workshopon “Societal Concerns and contribution to solve societal problems“under the workshop series on “Problem Solving skills –An innovative and Creative approach”.
The workshop was inaugurated on 23/3/17 by Dr. N. Gunasekaran, Principal , MVJCE and Prof. Brindha M,Vice Principal,MVJCE. 40 students fromvarious disciplines of engineering participated in the workshop. Recognising the need for problem solving capability in tomorrow’s engineers the”Tomorrow’s Engineers” Club of MVJCE organises a series of workshops. This workshop was a third workshop
organised since the launch of the club in March 2016. The brief details of the workshop is as follows On day one(23/3/17) The participants understood the importance of problem solving skills and the role of engineer in society. Teams (with interdisciplinary participants)were formed and open ended problems were given to the teams On day two(24/3/17) The participants had an insight on systematic approach to solve a problem. The teams were asked to find the solution for the open ended problem they chose. The teams presented their solutions to the jury.
The challenges of sustainability and responding to climatic change define the careers of 21st century engineers. This workshop gave a platform to a new conception of engineers in order to meet these challenges. The open ended problems discussed in the workshop were. Recycling and Conservation

Team V- Precision Agriculture- Modern Agriculture. On day three(25/3/17) Importance of stake holders in problem solving was made clear to the participants. The teams had to choose their own problem and identify stake holders for that problem. The problems identified by the teams for understanding the stakeholders were
Team I- Develop-Onn ( System for all round skill development for school children) Team II –Drones used during medical emergency to send blood bottles from blood bank to hospitals. Finally the workshop concluded with valedictory programme ,the dignitaries present in the valedictory session were the guest of honour Dr. B N Suresh, President INAE and Chairman GC,MVJCE, Sri M J BalachanderChairman MVJCE, Dr.NGunasekaran ,Principal MVJCE and Prof. Brindha M ,Vice Principal MVJCE. Dr B N Suresh who is the driving force of the Tomorrows Engineers Club addressed the participants and gave suggestions for the follow up activities of the club.
