TheBerkleeOnlineTransferTeamiscommittedtoworkingwithstudentstodeterminehowtheirpreviouscourseworkwillapplytotheBachelorofProfessionalStudies(BPS)degreeprogramrequirements.Transfercreditservicesareavailabletobothprospectiveandenrolledstudents.
CreditTypes
ThethreetypesoftransfercreditatBerkleeOnlineareexternal,internal,andpriorlearning.ExternaltransfercreditsarecreditsfromanyinstitutionoutsideofBerklee.ThisalsoincludesAPtestscores,CLEPexams,DSSTexams,UExcelexams,ALevelexams,HigherLevelInternationalBaccalaureatecoursework,andcourseworkcompletedatBerkleeInternationalNetwork(BIN)schools.Thereisa60semester-creditlimitforexternaltransfercredit.InternaltransfercreditsarecreditscompletedwithinBerklee.ThisincludesBerkleemaincampus,BerkleeValencia,orpreviouslycompletedBerkleeOnlinecoursework.Thisdoesnotcounttowardsthe60externaltransfercreditlimit.PriorLearningcreditisdesignedforthosestudentswhofeeltheyhavealreadyattainedtheeducationalequivalentofoneormoreoftheirremainingrequirementsthroughpreviouscourseworkorjob-relatedexperience.OnceenrolledintheBPSdegreeprogram,studentshavetheoptionofsubmittingapriorlearningcreditportfoliotodemonstratetheirproficiency.Amaximumof30priorlearningcreditscanbeawarded.SimilartocourseworkcompletedatBerklee,priorlearningcreditdoesnotcounttowardsthe60externaltransfercreditlimit.
OfficialTranscripts
StudentsapplyingtotheBPSprogrammustprovideanofficialtranscriptfromeachoftheirpriorinstitutions.Atranscriptisconsideredofficialonlyifitissentdirectlyfromacollege/universitytoBerkleeOnlineinasealedandstampedenvelopeorviaasecureelectronictranscriptservicesuchasParchmentorNationalStudentClearinghouse.Thefollowingdocumentsarenotacceptableasofficialtranscripts:
1. Transcriptsthathavepreviouslybeenopened2. Transcriptsemailedorfaxedbythestudent3. Copiesofdegreeauditsdownloadedbyastudentfromtheirinstitution

StudentsTransferringBerkleeCredits
StudentsseekingtotransferBerkleecreditstotheBPSdegreeprogramshouldbeawareofadditionalfactorsimpactingtheircreditawards.FormerCampusStudents:
Thosestudentswithfewerthan90creditsatBerkleemaincampusmaycompleteaBPSdegreeonline.StudentsconsideringthisoptionshouldcontactSeniorAcademicAdvisorMarkHopkinsatdegreecompletion@online.berklee.eduformoreinformation.
StudentswhopreviouslyattendedthemaincampusmuststillapplytotheBPSprogram. BerkleeOnlineoffersaBachelorsofProfessionalStudies(BPS),notaBachelorsofMusic
(BM). Anycourseworkcompletedforcreditwillbeevaluatedfortransfer;however,coursework
mustbecompletedwithafinalgradeofDorbetterinordertofulfillcurriculumrequirements.Thereisnocaptotheamountofinternaltransfercreditthatcanbeawarded,provideditalignswiththestudentsBPSprogram.
AllgradesandattemptedcourseworkthatdirectlyapplytoastudentsBPSprogramrequirementswillbereflectedintheirOfficialTransferEvaluation.
AnyinprogressBerkleeCollegeofMusiccourseworkatthetimeofevaluationwillnotappearonastudentsrecorduntilthecoursehasbeencompleted,finalgradeshavebeenentered,andthestudenthassubmittedarequesttotheTransferTeamtohavethesecreditsapplied.
BerkleeOnlineStudents:
Studentswhohavepreviouslycompletednon-degreeBerkleeOnlinecourseworkmuststillapplytotheBPSdegreeprogram.
Allcompletedcourseworkwilltransfer;however,courseworkmustbetakenforcreditandcompletedwithafinalgradeofDorbetterinordertofulfillcurriculumrequirements.Thereisnocaptotheamountofinternaltransfercreditthatcanbeawarded,provideditalignswiththestudentsBPSprogram.
AllgradesandattemptedcourseworkwillbereflectedinthestudentsOfficialTransferEvaluation.
Courseworktakenfornon-creditwillbeineligibletofulfillBPSprogramrequirements.Ifseekingcreditforthiswork,studentsareencouragedtoapplyforPriorLearningCredit.
BerkleeOnlinecourseworkwillnotbereflectedinastudentsrecorduntiltheirIntenttoEnrollformhasbeenreceivedandprocessed.IfastudentcompletesthisformpriortoreceivingtheirOfficialTransferEvaluation,theirBerkleeOnlinecourseworkwillbeincluded.IfastudentsubmitstheirIntenttoEnrollformaftertheyreceivetheir

BerkleeStudyAbroadProgram:
MatriculatedBPSstudentsacceptedtotheBerkleeStudyAbroadPrograminValenciaareencouragedtoreachouttheBerkleeOnlineTransferTeamwhenplanningtheircourseworktoensurethatitwillfulfillremainingdegreerequirements.
Anycourseworkcompletedforcreditwilltransfer;however,courseworkmustbecompletedwithafinalgradeofDorbetterinordertofulfillcurriculumrequirements.

DegreePrograms
BerkleeOnlinewillacceptamaximumof60semester-creditsfromregionallyaccreditedexternalinstitutions.
BerkleeOnlinewillacceptamaximumof30creditsearnedthroughthePriorLearningCreditprocess.
BerkleeOnlinewillacceptasmanyapplicablecreditsaspossiblecompletedthroughBerklee.Thesedonotcounttowardthe60externaltransfercreditmaximum.
BerkleeOnlinerequiresallstudentstocompleteatleast60semester-creditsforasinglemajoror105semester-creditsforadualmajoratBerklee.
COURSESELIGIBLEFORTRANSFER
BerkleeOnlinewillconsiderundergraduate-levelcourseworkfortransfertowardanydegreerequirement,solongasthecourseiscompatiblewithourcurriculumandcompletedwithagradeofCorbetterataregionallyaccreditedinstitution.Inrarecases,courseworkcompletedatanationallyaccreditedinstitutionwillassessedfortransfer.

InternationalBaccalaureate
ManycoursestakenthroughtheInternationalBaccalaureateprogramareeligibletobeacceptedatBerkleeOnline.ThesecoursesmustbetakenattheHigherLevel(HL),withaminimumscoreof4earned.InformationregardingInternationalBaccalaureatecanbefoundatwww.ibo.org.
AdvancedLevelExams
AdvancedLevelExams(A-Level)andAdvancedSubsidiaryLevel(AS-Level)examsareaccepted,providedthattheofficialscorereportissubmittedtoBerkleeOnline.TheTransferTeamisresponsibleforevaluatingthesereportsandwillmakethefinaldeterminationonacceptanceandtransferequivalency.
AP(AdvancedPlacement),CLEP,andDSSTExams

NarrativeEvaluation
Courseworkcompletedataninstitutionusingnarrativeevaluationsinlieuofgradesiseligibletotransfer.TheTransferTeamwillassesstheevaluationsincludedinthestudentsofficialtranscriptandwillawardcreditasdeemedappropriate.
MusicCoursework
BerkleeOnlinerecognizesthevalueofthemusiccourseworkcompletedatexternalinstitutionsandwillconsidertheseclassesfortransferprovidedtheymeetcertaincriteria.Inorderforthesecoursestobeeligible,theymusthaveclearlydefinedlearningobjectivesandcontainclassroom-basedinstruction.Privatemusiclessons,labs,andensembles,whichentailrepertoire-basedperformanceandone-on-onetrainingaredisqualifiedfromtransferring.ForthosestudentintheBPSguitarmajor,leveledprivateguitarinstructioncompletedataregionallyaccreditedinstitutionwillbeassessedfortransfercredit.Amaximumoffive(5)levelsofguitarinstructioncanbeawarded.Berkleemaincampusensemblesandprivatemusiclessonsareeligibletotransferdependingonmajor.
CreditDeficits
