ABOUT LDC
WE QUALIFIED ... SO CAN YOU
AWARDED TRAINING SCHOOL OF THE YEAR
If you enjoy driving and would like to help people
develop new skills this could be the ideal job for you.
To do this job, you need to
Ÿ be patient,
Ÿ have good people skills,
Ÿ truly enjoy helping other people to achieve their learning goals and
Ÿ take pride in your own driving.
*This example is based upon delivering 35 hours of instruction per week at a
lesson rate of £30 per hour (please note lesson rates vary by area and from
one LDC driving school to another).

Become a driving instructor with the Learner
Driving Centre (LDC) and earn up to £40,000 per
annum after meeting all business and car
expenses*.
So if you are looking for a rewarding, well paid part-
time or full-time job in your area, this could be the
ideal career for you.
While pay is very important, the biggest reward comes
from knowing that what you are doing is more than
just a job - you are doing something which helps
enrich people’s lives and adds to their safety and
security. The smile from a learner who has just passed
their test provides the ultimate in job satisfaction.
BECOME A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR
HOW YOU EARN MONEY
PROVEN PUPIL DEMAND
We provide you with the means to earn money directly
from your pupils and you in turn pay us. This method
of operating is often referred to as a job franchise.
Virtually all driving instructors are self-employed either
working totally on their own or operating a franchise
with a larger driving school (e.g. LDC, AA, BSM and
Red). Less than 1% of driving instructors are actually
employed in the traditional sense. When you are
franchised the driving school will help you to run your
business and generate customers.

In the last 24 months we have experienced a surge
in enquiries from people wanting to learn to drive
with one of our specially trained, expert driving
instructors using LDC's revolutionary LD System.
As a result we are looking to recruit and train more
driving instructors to satisfy the increasing demand. In
a recent poll 95% of LDC driving schools reported they
are currently operating a long waiting list (in some
areas as long as 3 months).
Due to these long waiting times we are currently
turning away pupil sales worth tens of thousands of
pounds each month. Work which could be going to
you if you were a qualied driving instructor working
with LDC.
Don’t take our word for how busy our instructors
are ... ask them!
The LD System is based on over 30 years of
perfecting the process of learning to drive. It is
designed to empower the student (i.e. the learner
driver) and put them rmly at the centre of the
learning process. It is the rst ‘Client Centred’
learning system of its kind.
It enables the learner to decide what, where, when
and how they might go about this process under your
watchful eye and guidance. This is achieved by
supplying the learner with a workbook and
accompanying DVD video programme (and access to
the online Hub version of the LD System) with
encouragement and support from you.

THE MODERN WAY TO GENERATE NEW PUPILS
LDC have developed a more modern approach to
generating new pupils.
Most other driving schools still rely solely upon a
conventional call centre/central website operation to
deal with enquiries from new pupils. This is not the
only way young people nd what they are looking for!
By embracing new technologies, particularly where
young adults are concerned, we are able to provide a
constant supply of new pupils for our LDC driving
school owners. For example our YouTube channel
(The Learner Driving Centre) alone has over 100,000
signed up subscribers and has received over 30
million views. Each video played links back to a list of
LDC driving schools in their area. Visit our YouTube
channel and see for yourself.
Our own online activity along with your personal
activity (e.g your website, Business Facebook page
etc.), set up and maintained by us on your behalf,
generates over 90% of enquiries from people wanting
to learn to drive with “YOU”.
LDC also provide a highly effective traditional call
centre. However, we believe more and more pupils
want to see who their actual driving instructor will be
with the option to contact them direct if they so wish.
LDC are the only national driving school to actively
promote YOU and decentralise the marketing in this
way.

“The main thing that attracted me to LDC was the personalisation of the driving school. The discounts for outright purchase of new vehicles are also very helpful and the option for instructors to source their own cars is another big differentiation.”
YOUR CAR OPTIONS
www.trainingwithsteve.co.uk
With LDC you have a wide choice of vehicle that
you can use for your LDC driving school.
Use your own car (if suitable), rent or buy a car. With
LDC you can purchase a new car at signicant
discounts (up to 28%), therefore, you can be assured
of keeping your car costs to a minimum. Indeed, the
saving you could make by purchasing a new car
through LDC alone could easily cover the weekly
franchise fees for the whole year.
Most learners prefer to learn to drive in one of the
smaller popular cars as they consider these easier to
drive. This is the reason why most successful driving
schools choose to use these cars. They are also far
less expensive to run and can signicantly increase
your income. However, larger cars and other makes
can also be used.

Based on delivering 35 hourly lessons on average per

£80 per week and assuming a typical driving instructor
insurance cost of around £520 per year (about £10 per

you use your own car rather than renting a fully
maintained car your earnings would potentially be a
£1,000 higher per year than those shown above or

To legally operate as a driving instructor in the UK you
are required to pass the Driver and Vehicle Standards
Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
qualifying examination which is split into three parts.
ORDIT
QUALIFICATION NEEDED TO BECOME A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR
OFFICIALREGISTER OF
DRIVING INSTRUCTOR
TRAINING
ORDIT
The Ofcial Register of Driving
Instructor Training (ORDIT) was
set up by the Driver and Vehicle
Standards Agency (DVSA) with
the support of the major trade
associations:
Once you have passed Part 2 and have completed
your initial Part 3 training you are allowed to work as a
trainee driving instructor provided you are sponsored
by a driving school that supports the Government’s
Trainee Licence scheme, such as LDC. This potentially
gives you up to 6 months real on-the-job training to
help you pass the Part 3 Test.
The introduction of the new Part 3 Test has made it
even more important that you have access to a
Trainee Licence from a reputable driving school.
ORDIT was set up to protect the public from
substandard training and rogue business practices.
Currently in the UK over 70% of those who pay for
and start driving instructor training courses never go
on to qualify. Whereas over 89% who complete all
their training with LDC do!
Any organisation wishing to be on ORDIT is required
to have their training facilities, methods, resources and
trainers successfully inspected by the DVSA every two
years. Organisations or trainers not on ORDIT should
be avoided no matter how cheap or credible they
appear. Just because an organisation may subcontract
the in-car instructor training to one or two ORDIT
registered trainers doesn’t mean you are protected
under the ORDIT scheme - you need to buy your
training from an ORDIT approved organisation such as
LDC.
Not all ORDIT organisations can provide training
nationally. LDC have 55 ORDIT qualied trainers
who provide training from most test centres where
the ADI Part 3 qualifying exam is carried out.
“I like being my own boss, this career works around my family life and I am operating a very successful LDC driving school. I have taken my career to the next step and I am now a fully ORDIT qualied trainer. I can not thank LDC enough for all the training and support they provide me.”
