THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings Fellow Schoolmates, Friends and
Supporters:
On behalf of Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D.
Britton Alumni Association, I would like to
thank all of you who supported our Golden
Girl Pageant fundraiser. Your support was
instrumental in making the event a success.
We are so appreciative to the three women
who competed for the title of Golden Girl
2015; Mrs. Crinda Chatmon, Mrs. Clementine
Davison-Vaughns and Mrs. Irma Winston. Their willingness to give of themselves by showcasing their
talents, and beautiful fashions, as well as raising money, shows their commitment and dedication to
Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D. Britton Alumni Association.
Congratulations to our winner, Mrs. Clementine Davison-Vaughns. We are grateful for her hard work
and persistence. We look forward to her reign of grace and elegance as Golden Girl 2015.
I would also like to acknowledge our former Golden Girl, Mrs. Irma Hunter who crowned the winner
and took her final walk as Golden Girl 2012. She has proudly served the Alumni Association for the
past three years and we are so appreciative of her dedication, commitment and loyalty. Other previous
Golden Girls were: Mrs. Ola Bunnitt, and the late Mrs. Rebecca Brown, who was our first Golden
Girl. We are grateful to all of them for everything they have done.
Mrs. Marie Lewis, chairperson of the Golden Girl Pageant, is to be commended for her extraordinary
and persistent efforts in making the event a tremendous success. I am personally thankful for her
planning and implementation of this event and her continued support of the Alumni Association. This
event was our major fundraiser to help preserve our gym and we are grateful to Mrs. Lewis and the
entire committee for doing a spectacular job.
Again, congratulations to Golden Girl 2015, Mrs. Clementine Davison-Vaughns.

THE HISTORY OF GOLDEN GIRL PAGEANT
The Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D. Britton Alumni Association has always sought ways to preserve the
“Gym” or Alumni Center. The “Gym” is the only building left of our beloved school after the
integration of Richland Parish Schools.
In an effort to generate funds for the Alumni Center, a committee met in January, 2001 and had
brunch at Rankin Chapel A.M.E. Church to plan its first Golden Girl Pageant. The committee
consisted of Nettie Lee, Moses Wilkins and Freddy Rivers.
Freddy Rivers, who introduced the Golden Girl Pageant idea, felt that women over 55 years of age
should be recognized for their grace, beauty and contributions to our community. Thus, the first
contestants and winners were:
Mrs. Rebecca Brown (Golden Girl – 2001)
Mrs. Ola Bunnitt (1st Runner-Up)
Mrs. Mattie Richardson (2nd
Runner-Up)
Mrs. Malissa Walker (3rd
Runner-Up)
Each contestant was judged on casual, Sunday and evening attire as well as talent.
On Saturday, February 25, 2012, the 2nd
Golden Girl Pageant was held. Over a hundred people
attended this event as they watched seven contestants vie for the crown. The contestants were:
Mrs. Mary Collins Mrs. Charlene Phillips
Mrs. Irma Hunter Mrs. Jessie Turner
Mrs. Alice Martin Mrs. Ella Wagner
Mrs. Virginia Louise Wilson
At the event, Mrs. Irma Hunter was crowned Miss Golden Girl 2012. During her reign, Mrs. Hunter
represented Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D. Britton Alumni Association with poise and enthusiasm.
She was involved in numerous activities and events until her reign ended in 2015.
On Saturday, July 25, 2015, three ladies competed for Golden Girl 2015. The contestants were:
Mrs. Crinda B. Chatmon
Mrs. Clementine Vaughns
Mrs. Irma Winston
At this 2015 pageant, Mrs. Clementine Vaughns was crowned.

Mrs. Clementine Davison Vaughns
Rayville Rosenwald/Eula D. Britton
Alumni Association
Clementine Davison Smith Vaughns
Clementine was born in 1949 in Delco, LA to Rev. Cannie Julius and Myrtle Davison. She is the
eleventh child of ten (10) girls and six (6) boys.
Her greatest achievement in life was when she was baptized at the age of ten and became one of God’s
servants. She is a faithful member of Holly Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She teaches Mission
class, sings in the choir, attends Sunday School and bible study, and is 1st assistant on the Mother’s
Board.
She attended Alto Elementary School (Grades 1-7), Eula D. Britton High School (Grades 8-10) and
graduated from Parker High School in Chicago, IL. She attended Kennedy College in Chicago for two
years and Prairie State College (Chicago Heights) for two years. She worked at St. James Hospital in
Orthopedic Nursing and is a certified phlebotomist. She retired in 2002 and moved to Rayville, LA.
Clementine is mother to six children, one adopted granddaughter, thirteen grandchildren (one
deceased), and two great-grands. Her first husband, Lawrence Smith, passed away in 2009. In 2012,
Clementine married Deacon Willie Vaughns, Jr., her high school classmate and friend.
She enjoys cruising, shopping, traveling, and annual road trips with sisters Diane and Fannie. She
enjoys having a good time with her other siblings, especially when dining out. Playing bid whist,
gardening and fishing are other favorite hobbies.
Clementine currently works at Caring Angel Connection (Waiver Service Program, Rayville, LA). She
counts it a blessing to be able to help others.
She thanks God for allowing her to see the first African American President during her lifetime. “God
bless these United States of America”.
Mrs. Crinda Berry Chatmon
Crinda Chatmon was born to Mrs. Cornelius
Fairley. She was blessed to have had two loving
stepfathers: Mr. Tilden Berry, Sr. and Mr. C. Q.
Fairley. She is sister to two brothers (one
deceased) and five sisters. She is a twin to
Brenda Bell.
Her early years were spent in Winnsboro,
Louisiana. Her family moved to Rayville, LA,
and she attended Eula D. Britton until the
integration of schools. She graduated from
Rayville High School in 1973.
In August, 1974, she was wed to the love of her
life, Eddie Chatmon, Sr. They are parents to:
Eddie, Jr., Jerald, Angelia, Yoloanda Dorsey,
James, Monica and Thomas. They also raised a
grandson, Jalon.
She is a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Girard, LA. Her husband is the pastor
of Jerusalem Baptist Church and she supports him there as well. They are regular visitors to area nursing
homes.
Crinda states that one should always keep Jesus Christ first. Never give up on your dreams. A dream
came true for her when she and her husband renewed their vows on August 9, 2014. She says, “The best
is still yet to come!”
Mrs. Irma Jean Winston
Irma Winston is the proud mother of one child,
Christopher Winston. Chris lives in Vicksburg,
Mississippi where he is a manager at Wal-Mart.
She is also a doting grandmother.
Irma attended Eula D. Britton. It was in Home
Economics class that she learned to sew and cook.
She still finds time to bake and sell teacakes. People
in the community call her the “Teacake” lady.
Irma is retired from Richardson Medical Center.
She was honored with a retirement party for thirty-
five (35) years of service as the secretary for the
Director of Nurses.
At her church, Maranatha Seven Day Adventist, she
is a youth minister and deaconess. She loves to read
her Bible, and visit the sick and homebound. She
has learned and lives by Galatians 5:22, 23.
Her favorite colors are black, white and pink. The
color pink is a favorite because it is a symbol of her
being a cancer survivor. Irma loves entertaining, arranging flowers and cooking.
Her advice to young people is to put God first, set goals and work to achieve them. She says, “JESUS is
the best that has ever happen to her”.
