MEET THE CANDIDATES
RUNNING FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
There are two positions for the Board of Directors open in
September, 2018. The following residents are running for these
two positions. Here are the biographies they submitted for your
consideration.
TONY CASTRO BIOGRAPHY
I am Tony Castro ( formal name Arthur A. (Tony) Castro) and I am asking for your support
in my candidacy for another term on the Board of Directors.
My residency in The Greens began in 2003 and I served for five years on the Swimming
Pool Committee, both as a worker and as Chairman, I understand how committees operate
and how committee ideas transform into the budge process to which the Board responds, I
have served three terms on the Board, three years as vice-president and three years as
President. I currently am the Board liaison for the Grounds and Swimming Pool Commit-
tees. I feel well equipped to represent the needs of our community.
I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of our Association’s financial invest-
ments and budget development and feel that I can adequately represent the best interest of
our homeowners. While I support keeping The Greens in excellent condition, my tendency
is to spend your money conservatively and to keep our HOA dues at the lowest rate possi-
ble. My previous experience as a Facility Manager in aerospace launch operation
equipped me in assessing organizational needs in operating and reserve budget allocations
as well as effective problem solving. I have learned significantly in my personal interac-
tions with Greens residents by listening to comments, observations and suggestions.
I feel that the experience and the corporate understanding that I have gained, in my years
as a Director, will be an asset in future applications as your representative. My continu-
ance will lend corporate knowledge to in-work programs. I continue to have a fresh moti-
vation to serve the needs of our community and to improve provided services, our security,
the aesthetics of our community and our financial stability.
I have lived in Bakersfield since 2003 and married Bonnie Casola in December 2015. We
have a wonderful group of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We happily
live at 10000 Cinderella Ave.

A Note From Your Board
Larry E, Reider, President-Greens Board of Directors
Dear Greens Homeowner,
August is here, and with it comes our heat. The heat oftentimes means we spend more time indoors,
and get our outdoor activities completed in the early morning when it is (hopefully) cooler.
If it’s any consolation, according to a local weather column, our average temperature starts dropping
(slightly) between July 26 and July 29 in a “normal” year. However as we all know, weather fore-
casters are not 100% accurate, and our weather is not always “normal”!
August will bring us our Annual Candidates Night on August 21 at our White Oak Clubhouse at
4:00 PM. We have four candidates running for two seats and this will be your opportunity to hear
from all four candidates. Please try to attend.
The ballots for this election will be mailed out, on or about August 20. Please vote for your pre-
ferred candidates, and please remember cumulative voting is not allowed. Having your vote counted
is important to meet our quorum requirement. If we don’t meet our quorum requirement we must
hold another election at an added cost. The ballots will be counted at out Annual Meeting to be held
on September 11 at White Oak. Please attend.
Please note the ballots for our Greens board will be green in color this year. I mention this since you
should have by now received white ballots for the Seven Oaks Board. Since The Greens are a part
of Seven Oaks, we vote for the Seven Oaks Board as well as our own Greens Board. Please remem-
ber the green ballots are for our Greens board and the white ballots are the Seven Oaks Board.
At the July Board meeting, some of the actions your board took included:
Approved the 2019 Reserve Study for The Greens.
Approved re-keying our clubhouses, so the clubhouse key you currently use will work on all
clubhouse locks, including the pool gates.
Approved lighting for the pergola by the pool at White Oak. This allows us to hold more, and
safer social activities when the weather permits.
Approved the installation of tree guards around the newly planted trees on the south end of the
Greens. We have found that gardeners “weed whackers” have damaged the new border
trees, and the tree guards are necessary to protect our investment in the new trees.
Took action to stop the monthly street sweeping. It was determined that the street sweeping did
not help our standing water issues, which was why the street sweeping was reinstated. While
many of us, myself included, liked having the Magnolia leaves picked for at least one day by
the street sweepers, it did not help the standing water issue and was not a good use of our
funds. Please know are committed to continue to find ways to mitigate our standing water
issues we face in our community-sooner rather than later.
