CHRISTIN KLEINSTREUER’S EXHIBIT JOSH TO BE ON DISPLAY IN ARTSPACE’S LOBBY EXHIBITION DATES: MAY 3-JUNE 1, 2013

OPENING RECEPTION: FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY WALK, MAY 3, 2013, 6-10 P.M. (Visual Art/Paintings) Location: Artspace, Lobby RALEIGH, NC – For May 3-June 1, 2013, the exhibit Josh, featuring work by artist Christin Kleinstreuer, will be on display at Artspace, a nonprofit visual art center in Raleigh. Featured in Josh, is a series of abstract paintings Kleinstreuer created in the months leading up to and immediately following her son Josh’s brain surgery for epilepsy. Josh Kleinstreuer is a web producer at News 14 Carolina. The surgery was successful, and the series now serves as a celebration of life, motherly love, and the range of emotions that can accompany the unknown. When I first heard about the concept of the show, I was filled with mixed emotions. I was honored that my mother would centralize so many paintings around me, yet at the same time concerned about to what extent the last couple years impacted her emotionally. After more reflection I realized, there is not much greater love in this world than that of a mother's love for her child. My ambivalent feelings disappeared and I have since been able to appreciate and connect with every painting in the show.

-Joshua C. Kleinstreuer A member of Artspace for eleven years, Christin Kleinstreuer is a self-taught artist. In addition to being a member of the Artspace Artists Association, her other professional memberships include Visual Art Exchange, the Durham Art Guild, and the Art Alliance. Kleinstreuer’s work has been featured in numerous exhibits including the Wayne County National Juried Exhibition, 2012, and the Durham Art Guild’s Annual Juried Show in 2010.
