SPONSORS
Our valued Sponsors are a very important part of our Club community with Sponsors contributing about 10% of our
annual revenue. Can we ask that you please be aware of who our Sponsors are, by checking in the Fixture Book or on
our website and on the board in the Clubroom. Whenever possible, please support them and make it known to them
that you are a member of the Armadale Bowls Club.
Also, if you have an idea or suggestion as to who could be approached as a possible Sponsor, please advise Jack Cooper,
Robyne Schwarz or Rob Millingen, who will follow up the lead. We all have wide circles of contacts
who could provide a source of new Sponsors
In the coming months, a member of the sponsorship committee may contact you personally to ask if you can assist by
providing the name of a company or service provider who might be a potential sponsor. Your assistance will be
greatly appreciated and benefit your Club.

SPECIAL ARMADALE BBQ AND BOWLS EVENT : SUNDAY NOV 12
INVITATION TO FRIENDS AND RELATIVES
Armadale is hosting a very special BBQ and Bowls event on Sunday Nov 12.
It is special because we take our long-term membership very seriously. And this special event does just that.
Many people know Armadale as a function venue.
So this week we took the opportunity to (call them all) and test their interest in bowls.
You may not be aware, but the vast majority of functions host Barmitzvahs, Batmitzvahs, Engagements, 30th, 40th
and 50th birthdays. And what they all have in common - is their age.
The result showed outstanding interest.
So this BBQ will see a youthful crowd try their hand at bowls.
And we will of course show them our special Armadale hospitality.
Let’s capitalise on this initiative and make it a massive success – and invite your friends, relatives and contacts that
you think would enjoy having fun in this company. They are welcome to bring along any friends of theirs.
The more the merrier.
The only request is that we are aware of the numbers (and any special dietary needs) for catering and bowls
assistance to get them started. That’s it. Vegetarian will be available.
DETAILS: 12 NOVEMBER: BBQ and BOWLS. From 4 – 7pm.You will also see a lot of school-children at the Club over the next several weeks. We have taken several schools
under our wing to provide coaching and assist their enthusiasm for bowls (as well as their teachers).
Both of these programs are building toward our future planning initiative.
We are all part of its success. This opportunity of having so many (younger people) enjoy the facilities of our Club is
unique. Let’s capitalise on the talent among our own contacts too. Thanks for your support in these events.
It is always amazing.

GUEST DAY.
HEALTH AND SAFETY MESSAGE
We have had two outstanding presentations recently on PREVENTING FALLS, GENERAL SAFETY and RESUSCITATION procedures.
YOUR SAFETY TEAM, as a result of the impact of heat in our training, has introduced a
HEAT, HATS, HYDRATION Safety Campaign this season.
We believe it is the most important message we can send to everyone for our general safety and health.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE HATS are available at the Club. 4 SIZES. $20. They provide full head, neck, ears, face coverage.
SUNSCREEN is best applied 20 minutes before you go into the sun. Available in all bathrooms.
WATER. BE VERY VIGILANT ABOUT HYDRATION before and throughout a game.
USE A BOTTLE. CUPS FILLED ONCE OR TWICE ARE DEFINITELY NOT ADEQUATE. Drink every end.
Dangers of dehydration include:
LOSS OF CONCENTRATION, DISORIENTATION, COLLAPSING.
You can’t play at your best if you are dehydrated. And it is VERY DANGEROUS.
SANDBELT CHAMPIONSHIPS-RESULTS.Men's Pairs Jeff Hunter & Tonny Van Haastert won first round, lost second round
Women's Pairs Rose Marie Todes & Di Grosberg won first round, lost second round
JOKES OF THE WEEKJudge: “Why did you steal the car?”
Man: “I had to get to work.”
Judge: “Why didn’t you take the bus?”
Man: I don’t have a driver’s license for the bus.
I’ve read so many horrible things about drinking and smoking recently that I made a new, firm New Year’s resolution: NO MORE READING!
Some nice Chinese couple gave me a very good camera down by the Washington Monument.
I didn’t really understand what they were saying, but it was very nice of them.
If I ever go missing, you should put my picture on beer rather than milk bottles. This way, my friends will find me faster.
