2007 CA Building Code– The previous code requirement of a 1:12 ratio of C‐Section rooms
to Postpartum beds is now not required if LDR’s or LDRP’s are provided.
– LDR’s or LDRP’s may be substituted for Labor Rooms.
– LDR’s or LDRP’s may be substituted for Recovery Rooms.
– Area requirements for LDR’s & C‐Section/Delivery rooms have increased.
– Nursery exam room is no longer required however a lactation/pump room is required nearby.
– Support areas may be shared for the C‐Section area and the rest pp yof the department provided there is separate access.
